Daystar Red Roller Fairlead Winch Isolator (KU70039RE) $23 The Daystar Red Roller Fairlead Winch Isolator stops the rattles while giving you a practical place to secure your winch hook. Once installed the Roller Fairlead Winch Isolator rests on (but does not permanently attach to) the rollers of your roller fairlead and is held in place by a snug winch line and hook. During winching, the Roller Fairlead Isolator hangs from your winch line (the winch line threads through a hole in the Isolator, so the Isolator never really comes off). Though permanently mounted onto your winch line, the Roller Fairlead Winch Isolator will not interfere with winching operations. In fact, the Roller Fairlead Winch Isolator acts as a weight that can greatly diminish winch line fling in the event of a winch line or anchor failure. The Roller Fairlead Winch Isolator measures roughly 7" wide and 4.5" tall, and works with up to 3/8" winch lines and 3/8" clevis hooks. The Roller Fairlead Isolator weighs 22 oz. (Shown for illustration purposed mounted onto a winch bumper and roller fairlead, which are sold separately.) |

From Daystar comes the Hi-Lift-Jack Isolator. Available colors are red, yellow, and black.
The Isolator is molded from polyurethane and secures the handle on your Hi-Lift Jack when the jack is not in use. Using the Isolator makes transporting your Hi-Lift Jack much quieter and easier. Say goodbye to rattles, Velcro watch straps, and inner tubes.
The Hi-Lift Jack comes with a spring clip to secure the handle in the upright position during use. This spring clip is not designed to nor will it hold the Hi-Lift Jack's handle securely during transport.
To combat this problem, some Hi-Lift Jack mounts like these mounts attached to this Safety Devices Highlander Roof Rack feature a bracket that holds the Hi-Lift Jack's handle stationary. Most mounts lack this feature and permit the Hi-Lift Jack's handle to rattle about.
Many savvy Hi-Lift Jack users like Bill Burke of 4-Wheeling America employ a Velcro watch strap to hold the Hi-Lift Jack's handle tightly against the jack's standard. This system works very well but still permits some rattling and clanging.
To combat this problem, others use a bicycle inner tube rolled over the Hi-Lift Jack's handle to act as a buffer, and then tightly strap the handle to the standard with a Velcro watch strap. This system definitely works but is unsightly.
Furthermore, the rubber used in inner tubes is not designed to be exposed to the elements and quickly deteriorates.
There is a better solution: the Daystar Hi-Lift Jack Isolator. The Isolator holds the Hi-Lift Jack's handle away from the standard and completely eliminates rattles.
The Isolator is secure enough that wrapping the Hi-Lift Jack's handle and standard with a Velcro strap is totally necessary.
The Isolator is available in red, black, or yellow colors. The color of the Isolators runs entirely through the Isolator. Some will prefer red because it matches the All-Cast Hi-Lift Jack and the Hi-Lift Off-Road Base. Others will choose black because it is stealthy and less visible. Others will choose yellow because it is patently visible and less likely to get lost. Whatever color you choose, you really cannot go wrong.
The Isolator is molded into a shape that resembles a Hi-Lift Jack's cross section.
The "I" of the Isolator slips over the I-beam-shaped standard on the Hi-Lift Jack. The Isolator's fit here is snug but still loose enough to permit the user to slide easily the Isolator up and down the Hi-Lift Jack's standard.
The Isolator also features a splined round hole.
The splined round hole slides over and fits tightly onto the Hi-Lift Jack's handle. The Isolator's fit over the handle is tighter than its fit over the standard. This is a design feature that permits the user to slide the Isolator off the Hi-Lift Jack easily once the Isolator clears the handle.
To fit the Isolator, simply slide the Isolator over the Hi-Lift Jack's standard,
and then over the handle. That's it.
Once fitted, the Isolator keeps the handle away from the standard and prevents those annoying rattles. The isolator is sized perfectly, and the handle remains parallel to the standard.
The Isolator is designed only for storing and transporting the Hi-Lift Jack. Always remove the Isolator before using your Hi-Lift Jack.
Leaving the Isolator on the Hi-Lift Jack's standard will block the handle's swing arc and prevent it from locking in the vertical position. Whenever you stop jacking or reverse the jack's direction, the handle must always be in the vertical position. Don't do what is pictured above.
An alternative to the Daystar Hi-Lift Jack Isolator is the Expeditionware Hi-Lift Jack Isolator. The Expeditionware Isolator is available in red and black colors.
The Expeditionware Isolator is identical in concept and function to that of the Daystar Isolator, but is slightly thinner in cross section for a cleaner appearance.
The Expeditionware Isolator is also slightly shorter in height.
Both the Expeditionware Isolator and Daystar Isolator serve the same function equally well.
If you want some training on how to use the Hi-Lift Jack safely, then the Getting UNStuck DVD is available. In this DVD, Bill Burke of 4-Wheeling America has taken his almost half century of fourwheeling experience and condensed it into two hours of detailed vehicle recovery techniques and recovery gear employment. Traveling from Moab to the beaches of Cape Cod and back across the Colorado Rockies, Bill takes us through desert and barren mountain peaks to illustrate the proper recovery techniques and proper use of recovery products such as Superwinch Winches & Winching Tools, Bow Shackles, Pull-Pal Land Anchor, Hi-Lift Jack, Heavy-Duty Transport Chains, Protective Gloves, proper recovery points like the Shackle Mounting Brackets or Dixon-Bate Tow Jaws, RUD 4x4 Grip Chains, and synthetic winch lines. This DVD is certainly not a replacement for personal instruction from Bill, but it is a very good start in the right direction.
The Daystar Shock Reservoir Isolators provide an alternative reservoir mounting configuration for the rear Old Man Emu LTR Shocks, and permit mounting of the reservoir parallel to the shock body.
The rear LTR04R shocks on the Disco1 are mounted with the reservoir attached to the frame outrigger. This mounting system works very well but many find this system to be unsightly.
Some prefer to mount the LTR's reservoir parallel to the shock body for a cleaner appearance.
The KU08030 Shock Reservoir Isolators that we sell are sized to fit the LTR reservoirs perfectly.
The yellow polyurethane matches the yellow polyurethane bushings that come with all Old Man Emu shocks.
Sold in pairs; one pair required for each shock. Secure with stainless hose clamps.
If you own a Disco1 and want a cleaner appearance for your LTR rear shocks, here is how you can do it.
Daystar Products also manufactures isolators for your winch.
The Roller Fairlead Isolator stops the rollers and hook from rattling about. Though permanently mounted onto your winch line, the Roller Fairlead Winch Isolator will not interfere with winching operations. The Roller Fairlead Winch Isolator measures roughly 7" wide and 4.5" tall, and works with 3/8" winch cable and 3/8" clevis hook.
The rear face of the Roller Fairlead Isolator is shaped to mate with external profile of your roller fairlead. Once installed the Roller Fairlead Winch Isolator rests on (but does not permanently attach to) the rollers of your roller fairlead and is held in place by a snug winch line and hook. During winch use, the Roller Fairlead Isolator is away from your fairlead but still attached to your winch line.
The Roller Fairlead Winch Isolator acts as a weight that can greatly diminish winch line fling in the event of a winch line or anchor failure. In this manner, it is similar to the ARB Winch Cable Damper. However, the Roller Fairlead Winch Isolator is permanently mounted on your winch line. You do not have to go and fetch it as with the ARB Winch Cable Damper.
If your vehicle has a hawse fairlead without rollers, the Roller Fairlead Winch Isolator will not work for you.
For hawse fairlead applications, Daystar makes the Hawse Fairlead Winch Isolators, in black or red.
Many winch kits like the Land Rover Genuine Parts winch kits come standard with a hawse fairlead and other recovery points. Thus, the user is forced to let the winch hook hang from the fairlead.
Fitment of the Hawse Fairlead Isolator will permit the user to snug up the Isolator and mount up tightly against it rather than dangling.
The rear face of the Hawse Fairlead Isolator is shaped to mate with the mouth of hawse fairleads to prevent lateral movement of the Isolator once the winch cable is snug.
As with the Roller Fairlead Isolator, the Hawse Fairlead Isolator rests on (but does not permanently attach to) your hawse fairlead and is held in place by a snug winch line and hook. During winch use, the Hawse Fairlead Isolator is away from your fairlead but still attached to your winch line. And as with the Roller Fairlead Isolator, the Hawse Fairlead Isolator acts as a weight that can greatly diminish winch line fling in the event of a winch line or anchor failure.
