Land Rover National Rally
 
My wife and I are just leaving Montrose this morning after attending the rally with Overland Journal and the African Conservation Fund.

My three favorite experiences:

1. Running Black Bear Trail, which I hadn't done before. Stunning.

2. Meeting Ho in person for the first time.

3. Watching Ho donate the $500 Discount Tire certificate he won back to the raffle so someone else could win it.

Just got home. took me longer than expected, had a quickie stop at the Grand Canyon National Park. :)

It was fun meeting you all there at the National Rally. I had a great time. Jonathan, I hope you get get your Land Rover ready next year's in Moab.

I got home at 4am, 7-hours late, and had to be at work by 8am. I'm dead! I'm working on the pics I downloaded to my computer, but US AIR has lost my luggage, camera and equipment in a 1500 pelican included. Not sure when I'll see it again.

Its most likely still getting searched every 50'. TSA loves poking around the Pelicans whenever I travel with one. They seem to really love my camping 1650 with my head lanterns and batteries packed in it, especially my Black Diamond unit with the remote battery pack. That thing is always opened up and checked.

Apparently lots of surprise guests from all over the place showed up.

Some weird-o from the movie Deliverance just delivered my bags. I kind of ticked off. Both bags were locked with TSA Approved Pelican locks and they're now missing. It does not appear any of my property is missing from the cases, but I pissed about the locks being gone. I did have a TSA security note inside one of my cases where TSA searched my junk. But, why would they keep the locks?

I was sleep deprived because of Pendy. He's trouble for sure.

I was doing much better for Black Bear Pass the following day because I stayed away from him the night before. :rofl:

Yeah, we knew why you were tired. Just pokin' an elbow at you. :pp

Nice pics, BTW. I hope to get around to editing mine by the end of this week.

Thank you for your e-mail message concerning the destruction of your TSA Approved Lock.



These locks were developed through cooperation between luggage, lock and travel accessory manufacturers and the TSA. Under this system, TSA screeners are able to unlock and then relock luggage without damage through the use of passkey sets that are available to TSA screeners. These locks are accepted and recognized by the TSA for use at all airports where TSA screening is performed.



However, TSA does not approve or endorse this particular product and we expect additional vendors to provide different versions of these "Dual Custody" padlocks to the retail market. While we cannot guarantee that the TSA accepted locks will not be broken during security screening, we do request that you report such incidents to the TSA Contact Center (TCC) so that we can take appropriate action.

We have attached a copy of our claims form so that you may seek compensation for the replacement of your lock. While use of the form is not mandatory, it will help you ensure that you meet the legal requirements for filing a claim.



In order to protect your rights under federal law and to file a valid claim, you must send your claim in writing to TSA, stating the circumstances of the loss and the exact amount you are claiming (fair market value of lost or destroyed property, reasonable cost of repair for damaged property), within two years after your claim accrued. The claim must be signed by you or your authorized representative (e.g., an attorney or other personal representative with appropriate proof of authority).



You can satisfy the notice requirement by filling out the attached Standard Form 95 (claim form) in accordance with the instructions, and returning it to the address in box #1. Please be sure to follow the instructions carefully, and to fill out the claim form completely.



Once the Claims Management Office has received your claim form, you will be sent a letter of acknowledgement and a claim number. You should keep the claim number for future reference when inquiring about your claim. TSA will try to resolve your claim as quickly as possible, but it may need time to make a further investigation of the facts. If TSA denies your claim, or has not finally resolved it within six months after you have filed it, you may have a right to bring your claim to court.

Hi All,

Great to see Ho, I somehow ran out of time Friday night (too much time spent at Pete's weapon emporium) and didn't get over to visit with Jonathan & Scott ... did visit with Graham & Connie briefly at morning line-up.

Felt crappy Saturday night and left the raffle early ... hell, took two days to drive to Iowa and only worked a half day on Tuesday.

Can't wait for next year!

no wonder, I saw you the day I pulled in town, then you were gone. or perhaps I don't remember you because I was drunk! LOL

maybe we hang out some more next year in Moab. "Bullshit around the fire" type thing. :)
