Redwood Creek Wine's Campicurean Contest
After a long hike or river trip, what's better than winding down near a warm campfire and delicious meal? Firmly believing that good food and wine enhance every outdoor experience, Redwood Creek Wines invites outdoor enthusiasts nationwide to enter Redwood Creek's Campfire Classic. One of your readers could earn a $10,000 Grand Prize and a $5,000 donation to the national park of their choice.

All “campicureans” who want to toss their skillet over the fire can enter their best original campfire recipes on http://www.RedwoodCreek.com between April 2 and May 15 for the chance to be one of five finalists flown to New York City to cook-off on the first day of summer, June 21st. Chef Bob Blumer--perhaps best known as the host of the Food Network's Surreal Gourmet and host of Fine Living's Glutton For Punishment, a new show that leads him in physically daunting food and wine quests--will help Redwood Creek Winemaker Cal Dennison select "America's Best Campfire Chef."

I'm happy to send Blumer's delicious, gourmet campfire recipes with wine pairing suggestions, campfire safety tips or digital campfire cooking photos if you're interested. Just for giggles, I submitted a seared Tuna, jalapeño rice, topped with a citrus red wine sauce, and mixed vegetable recipe.

Interesting market branding - 'adventure' wine. I first saw Redwood Creek ads in the Explorer's Club Journal. They are one of only six advertisers - among them Toyota, Rolex, and Overland Journal.

Anyone try their wine?

You can get their wines at most grocery stores. It's not anything spectacular, but it's better than Sutter Home.

Am I the only one who thinks this is bullshit? http://www.redwoodcreek.com/campfire/voting.asp

In the rules, #5 states "Create an original Campfire Recipe, which includes ingredients commonly available at retailers, and include one of Redwood Creek's table wines as a Wine Pairing recommendation."

Now, I know I live outside of the city and all, but since when is Elk commonly found in stores? I've never seen Elk for sale.

Same with Walleye. I've never seen walleye, blue or yellow, for sale in stores. Is this common in northern USA?

I can buy Elk and Bison at my local Bristol Farms... Never looked for walleye...
