Just don't cut the seatpost before finalizing your position. I think your current saddle height is way too low:


That is not my chosen saddle height. That is what I'm forced to ride since I rounded off the grub screw for securing the seat post with a cheap Park Tool multitool. I can no longer tighten it properly so it will not stay up where I place it but moves down and gouges the new post so I just leave it there until I buy a new grub screw.

I've been hoping one comes up on eBay but I may just have to pay some ripoff Canadians $70C for new one (1/2 way down page):
