Bill Burke Is Coming To EE!

We are very pleased and honored to announce that Bill Burke of 4-Wheeling America and Camel Trophy fame will be coming to the EE Shop!

Bill will be at the EE Shop on Thursday, November 11th at 5:30 p.m. Bill will first do a short demonstration of recovery equipment and techniques. Following the recovery demonstration will be the main event of the evening: Bill's Camel Trophy slide show. Bill will share his experiences and stories from the 1991 Camel Trophy, a 1200-mile off-road adventure from Tanzania to Burundi that consisted of competitive 4-wheeling tasks of time/speed/distance, road and bridge building, and physical and mental endurance. After the Camel Trophy slide show, Bill will be available to autograph copies of the Getting UNStuck DVD.

Refreshments and snacks will be provided at the event. Everyone is invited, so please come. There is no admittance fee.

Do we need to RSVP or show up? I am also coming from Woodland Hills and may be late due to traffic. Will I still be allowed in?

Thanks!

when i look at that pict of bill above it reminds me of dennis miller's picture segments on the old hbo show,

" and here we have famed 4x4 expert and once camel trophy driver bill burke displaying for us how he lots the tips of all ten fingers and the lower half of his leg in a hi-lift jacking seminar gone very wrong."

That's a pic from our JackMate page. Before last night, I had no idea that chain was rigged incorrectly. Whenever I have contact with Bill, whether on the trail or off, I learn something new. I rushed back from Costco last night so that I could catch a tidbit of Bill's recovery seminar. I got to watch only about five minutes of the recovery seminar and I picked up the tip on the choker chain.

What shocked me was that there were a handful people hanging around who weren't even listening to the recovery seminar and were just bullshitting in the front of the shop, presumably because they had nothing to learn. Unreal. What's even funnier is that I could have predicted wouldn't be listening.

After what I saw last night with a high-lift, I was almost talked out of driving down today to pick up my new superwinch......just kiddin.....great stuff though...I took a ton of picks for "future reference"....I think I'll keep em in the glove box!!!

We're still waiting to see what Superwinch does. Superwinch is definitely coming out with a synthetic, but at this time it's not certain what the line will look like. Will it be Technora? Amsteel Blue? Something else? What kind of thimble will it have? How will it fit into the Superwinch's drum? What kind of hook will it have? The line that Superwinch displayed at the 2004 SEMA Show was still in the development stages.

If the Superwinch line is good, we will sell it. But if it is not good, we'll look elsewhere. Time will tell.

i hear ya....was doing a little web search on synthetics...and there are a ton out there with different sizes, strengths, lengths and accessories, but of course quality of the line is key....and like always, I look forward to your recommendations

Thanks to Ho and John for hosting and to Bill and Rachel for sharing all the tips, tricks, and the slide show with us.

I got the DVD also, and have watched most of it in between house chores. Very informational. Gets the creative juices flowing, and thats what is needed when in trouble.

And John, it was nice to finally meet you.

Hopefully see you all on an event in the future.

Vance

Wish I could have been there. Looks like you all had a fun informative night. I have one question:

What is he doing with the knife and line?

ahh, the famous rope trick...

It's interesting that Bill is getting famous for his rope trick.
He is demonstrating how to shorten the rigging line, using a loop and tuck trick, much as electricians use the same coiling technique to coil their cords at the end of the day. The Benchmade is being used to tie off the last loop of the line, after the length adjustment was made: in Anza Borrego Bill used a hitch pin for this purpose.

This was part of the high lift demo, where Bill was illustrating how to use a high lift, choker chain and nylon winch line as a winching technique.
That guy has more knowledge in his little finger than most of us put together. Man, he just moves that 60" high lift around like it weighs nothing, I can barely lift the 48".

Many thanks to John and Ho for sponsoring a great evening: EE is the best.
