That early RR is cool, but I was referring to the Darien Series truck pic.

I dont know if any of you would consider these something that should be thrown in here but being a child born in the 60's and having my parents exposing me to movies like Born Free and promoting TV shows like Wild Kingdom, I thought these pictures of George Adamson (from http://www.fatheroflions.org/GeorgeA...hotos_p.4.html) were pretty bad ass. Going through the page there was a pretty interetsing blurb:
Quote:
Interesting LANDROVER note:
Within months of the first Land Rover being made, in April 1948 they started appearing in colonial Africa. First to get their hands on them were the British District Commissioners, District Officers and then white hunters. Conservationist George Adamson took delivery of only the fourth Land Rover to be imported to East Africa! His vehicle is said to still be alive in Nairobi, but not ticking.

It looks like in the first picture that his hair is in the old engine oil pan.

Roll up windows in the 109?

Maybe just removable side windows for photography?

I think that vertical line you see on the drivers door window is the edge of the glass that was pushed forward. Maybe.

A soldier of Bravo Company, 1 Rifles launches a Desert Hawk UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) from a WMIK Landrover during an operation near Garmsir, Afghanistan.

Desert Hawk is a portable UAV surveillance system which provides aerial video reconnaissance. It has a flight time of approximately one hour, and can fly anywhere within a 10km radius of its ground control station. It has both day and night time (thermal imaging) capability. The equipment can be used for a variety of tasks, such as force protection for convoys and patrols, route clearance, base security, reconnaissance or target tracking.

Love the JATEs on there.

Classic love is in the air...

That first video was bitchin. I can never get enough of that footage of the guy driving the rolling chassis around.
It's also funny how they show it smoking that overloaded SIIa in the beginning. It's now taboo in advertising to show your new product directly beating out your old one. You want it to be an improvement but you only want to show it out-performing the competition's offering. But that's not really the way it should be. Companies should make better and better stuff and all of their new products should make even their old production obsolete.

Yes and yes.

When are you going to get out of the shop for a week with that G4 so we can hit Mexico?

Well this moron on ExPo went to the Heritage Motor Centre in the UK and check out the pics he took:

He was all over that stupid Tickford and never even noticed Range Rover Number FUCKING One right next to it.
This chump was also snapping pics of a Cuthbertson conversion like it was cool.
He had no idea.

This guy on Flickr knew what to snap pics of.
