Suggested Mounting Options for Winch Solenoid Pack

Hi all, Mile Marker winch with remote solenoid pack on my 2004 DII. Want to mount it inside the engine compartment, looking for some suggestions or ideas from others who've done the same.

The solenoid pack is pretty large and will interfere with Hella light mounting position if mounted on top of winch.

Thanks

Well, it's not in the engine compartment, but mine is mounted remotely in the bumper. It's up out of the way enough for me. Does your bumper have some provision for mounting it this way?

Actually, I fabricated my own bracket to mount between the light tabs on the RTE bumper.

My jack is relocated to the rear cubby anyway since I relocated the factory washer fluid reservoir to just behind the battery box. Pics later.

I went to a stereo shot and got some longer cables and mounted mine infront of the air box. Due to frequent water crossings, I smeared the insides with dielectric grease.

Juan, you gonna pop the hood every time you need the winch? or you'll relocate the remote plug?

You're right, I didnt think I'd need it as much but with all the mud we have down here, it gets used often. I'm thinkin of mounting the plug on the plastic trim underneath the headlight and keeping the insides of the solenoid tucked away under the hood.

BTW, everyone calls me JC

yeah, mount the plug somewhere more accessible.

winch is a very crucial piece of equipment that will be used not only by you, but often times, by your friends helping you. i've noticed that everytime I needed my winch, i couldn't even open my door.

so i don't like winch setups where the plug is hidden. it should be in plain view.

ok, JC.

Yeah, and having the hood up if you're winching yourself out isnt a good idea either..haha.. the new location should be MUCH easier to access.
