This vehicle has a very interesting history, it was the first diesel car to maintain a constant 100mph for 24 hours, breaking all diesel speed records in the mid 80s. To assist with this a few modifications had to be done. The fuel access is in the rear lower tailgate to enable quick re-fueling. Most of the glass has been replaced with perspex, rear seats removed, quick release bonnet catch, gauges and radio communication added. The reason for the record attempt was to get the press back on side, having previously given the Range Rover Diesel a slating.

On the way back from pheasant hunting in Mexico last week, Marcus and I were discussing what sort of "charitable" acts we might undertake with Zuckerberg's for-profit foundation. I said I would buy Land Rover. Then I would produce only the coilers but in every variation. 2-door RRCs, 3-door discos and HCPU 110s along with all the others and with only diesel motors. I feel like that would be pretty good for mankind.

This is the original prototype NAS (North American Specification) Range Rover, codenamed ‘Eagle’.

It was built in 1986 using the ‘facelift’ body and trim from that period. This is the only known prototype and did most of the engineering testing. It had many advanced features for its time, including amber side lamps, strengthened front and rear chassis, square tow ball socket, higher trim specification, US emissions control with charcoal canister, multi-vent fuel tank, county badge on dashboard, US VIN plate and ‘bing-bongs’!

This vehicle was the beginning of Land Rover’s re-launch in the USA.

Although a little scruffy it is completely original and works perfectly.
