It was really good.

I'm digging my Nago. Took some getting used to because this saddle is very narrow compared any of the saddles i've used before. Today was about 2 hours on the saddle and I didn't have to worry about.

I was itching to go ride on Saturday and luckily had time to go out for a few hours. I heard Angeles Crest Hwy would close due to snow and that interested me to try riding up to Mount Wilson. This is my first real mountain climb and aways wondered if I would make it up there. So here it goes...

You can still see the damage from the last big La Canada fire.



Climbing...



It's about 14 miles from La Canada to the Red Box. Red Box is a stop many use for restroom and water break and they have the Haramokngna American Indian Cultural Center there too. Looked like there was only one water fountain there which was broken and had to use a faucet behind the fountain, LOL.



Bike did really well without a glitch but the user was struggling. We made it up there and I'm glad I was able to take in the scenic beauty.




On the way back down just before descending to La Canada.



BTW, Angeles Crest Hwy was wide open through Palmdale so there was traffic. I don't think I'm in super shape but most of us just get scared of the sheer numbers and what stava tells you. You'll never know if you can do something until you try it. I didn't PR everywhere on strava or whatever on this ride but I had fun climbing to Mount Wilson. I rode solo and could have killed myself to break some personal record but I had more fun enjoying the view and the ride.

That's beautiful. Angeles Crest Hwy is not crazy steep and doesn't have crazy sharp turns. 14 miles descending was a pleasure without brakes except for some traffic and wet/icy spots on top but it was really fun descending it. I don't think it compares to Vivaldi's Invierno but I think it was pretty close.

It was painful above 4000ft elevation because the water from melting snow splashed on my legs and the exposed skin was freezing. The descent was worth the climb.

Went back to Mt. Wilson today. This time I wanted to go check out the Mt. Wilson Observatory(http://www.mtwilson.edu/vis.php). The only mistake was that I didn't read their website thoroughly enough. We get up there and the gates are closed... LOL

Oh well, I guess I'll have to go back there another day after April 1st.

This is Mt. Wilson Red Box Road. About 5 miles long and 1000 feet of climb to the observatory from Angeles Crest Hwy. My legs were done after this.

The view is worth suffering for. I'm open either April 6 or April 13. Anyone up for some observatory action? Observatory should be open then.

I'm too out of shape and would eat shit and die on that climb. I'll stick to Dennis The Menace Beach Bike Path for the time being.

Last Saturday ride...

I didn't plan it to be a big ride but it turned out to be a 5 hour ride to Mt. Wilson.

One of the ranger stations on Angeles Crest Hwy to top off on water and rest. That road takes us to another station called the Red Box but we decided to take another route that winds through the back side of that mountain and down that same road.



This is Angeles Forest Hwy...









Angeles Forest Hwy connects w/ Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road... and finally we merge to Angeles Crest Hwy.



Everything was very green and blooming except for the larger trees burned by the "Station Fire" in 2009.

This was a 65 mile long ride and by mile 35, I was done enjoying the scenery. I couldn't give up and turn around because there would be more climbing to do. I don't think I'll want to do this ride again. Too much climbing.

The EPS was superb and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's fast on the descents and climbs well and most importantly... it's the right color. I'm diggin' it.

Five hours? That's awesome.
