Defender & Compressors...

I noticed elsewhere that a D90 owner had located a small compressor inside the battery box along with his dual Optima set-up? I use an onboard compressor for the lockers and occasional air ups and am tempted by the space saving of this location. Makes me wonder, though, if there's a safety or longevity issue. Perhaps it's not an issue for occasional locker use, but airing up tires can easily create compressor temps of 225-245 deg F which I would think would make for a very toasty battery compartment in the Defender. Are Optima batteries able to withstand this kind of heat or am I missing something in the equation? Just wondering if I should give the idea a bit more thought or keep things as LR intended. Thx.
