something in the air

Man, must be an end-of-the-week thing: my lowball offer on that nice SM 300 was just accepted by the owner. It's been awhile, surprised no one else pulled the trigger on it. I guess I better hide it from Lynn, and from Micah, too.

Ron: you looked like you're on auto-pilot, "just get me the f**k home".

I just checked Costco's website and did a search for "omega". The results were as follows:

http://www.costco.com/frameset.asp?t...asp&srch=omega

The silver and blue Aqua Terras are listed. Costco Torrance had the blue and black versions available, both 41mm size.

I like the bracelet on the Aqua Terra, but don't like the clasp. It's that faggoty Constellation clasp. A huge mistake on OMEGA's part I think. Still, a blue Aqua Terra looks kick ass with a brown leather strap:

I love wearing the skin of dead animals, and croc is definitely up there on the pecking order.

If only the 41mm Blue Aqua Terra were mispriced like the Seamaster Pro was.....

I've noticed nice men's watches on some discriminating ladies' wrists before. It's not common by any means, but it's not that unusual either. Usually the lady will try to pass it off as something like, "I like men's watches better because they're bigger and easier to read."

Yeah, right Lady. Talk to my hand. You think that could fool a Corleone? Pah! Anyone who knows anything about anything knows that you're wearing that watch to convey one or more of the following messages:

(1) You have a man;
(2) Your man has money (he can afford at least two high-dollar watches, one for himself and one for you); and
(3) you have control of your man (you took one of his watches).

I don't disagree that the look is tres chic, but let's get real here.

You might try calling up those places and see what happens. I don't think calling them will be fruitful. $1299 is well below Authorized OMEGA dealer cost on a Seamaster Pro.

David, this is that vintage one, right? If so, that's awesome. Congratulations.

What a week. To think, all of this madness began with an innocent question about the Hydromax. LOL.

lol.

What's next? Any money ($600 worth at least) I WAS planning to toss into a new watch or something fun and cool has just been given to a plumber. On the way home tonight my wife called and said the hot water heater was spewing water everywhere....

2.5 hours later my wallet is absent some $$. Shitty way to start a weekend...... Somebody go find a watch or something cool to post pictures of so I can get this crap off my mind......

Yep, the restored one. Didn't think my offer would be taken seriously, damn, now I have to figure out how to pay for it.

I love how OMEGA uses hotties in elegant settings to advertise:

And here's another "I have a man and I'm hot stuff because I stole his high-dollar watch without his doing anything about it" shot:

What's even better is when swimsuit ads feature half naken women sporting a man's watch (a Submariner in this case) while leaning on a Land Rover!

I sent my all stainless GMT II to Jack at IWW in February 2005 for a re-lume and got it back the end of April 2005. The luminous markers aren't as bright as he indicated they would be. Not even close by the Luminox standards. He only charged me $125, but I expected the work to be brighter and longer lasting. Your mileage may vary.

super luminova just isn't as bright as a tritium tube...

SL glows pretty well, Seiko has the best version. I hear a rumor of a new version coming soon with a higher level of purity, and more lumens off it. The size of the marker being relumed also plays a part: the larger the part, the more SL may be applied to it.
Luminox and others use tritium tubes, which has the best luminous properties. MB Microtec is providing the technoloby to more firms these days, so expect to see more high-end brands with their tubes.

Jack is probably the best around for restoring/modifying/reluming an older watch, I used to have a Space 1/L5100 but sold it. He does a great job with case/bracelet refinishing, whether polished, brushed or bead blasted. He's done maybe 10 jobs for me.

He is returning from vacation later this week, but expect a long backlog: Ron's wait sounds about right, it's gonna be 12-14 weeks minimum.
