The early days, compliments of Shawn

Shawn Davis and I met up for lunch and we were chit chatting about the early days of the National Rally and the period when Range Rover USA had just opened up shop but the "Land Rover Community" still meant Series trucks. This isn't ancient history or anything but it's a pretty unique moment in Land Rover culture in the US. The disparity between my disco1 and a MkIII rangie on the trail seems like nothing when compared to the gap between a SIIA or SIII and a 86 RRC.

Shawn was kind enough to share these pics from Utah when she was younger.
I thought they were pretty cool so I thought I'd post them up for others to see.

enjoy.

It looks like from the pics, then as now, a few 90s and 110s found their way into the country.

GREAT PICS!

Those are the things that make me wanna run out and buy a LR! No fancy anything, no power-this/that ... rudimentary, basic wheeling. I'm diggin' it!
