Mic mounting location suggestions please

Just installed ARB air lockers front and rear on my 97 D90. The switches are in the face plate in the center of the dash, just below the ashtray location. That's previously where the two microphones for my CB and FRS radios would hang. My truck's a soft top, so my options are limited, and my CB is huge (!) so I mounted it to the top of the center console right next to my right elbow. Makes a comfy little arm rest too.

Anyway, looking for some creativity in mount locations for the mics. Thanks in advance, and flame on!

Ron, I can't believe that you're clinging to all of this FRS and CB jazz when I'm sure you've read the amateur radio threads here.

I'm not sure if that mic mount will work in a Land Rover.

I know...I know.... actually nothing about the amateur radio scene. Brother and dad are hams, but not me. Most of the rednecks I wheel with are all FRS users. Everyone has them, so easy to communicate on the trail. Will the amateur radio also transmit and receive the FRS channels?

A little birdie told me that amateur radios can easily be modified to transmit and receive on the CB, FRS, MURS, and GMRS bands as well as the amateur bands.

I'm no amateur extra, but isn't it illegal to modify a radio to transmit on those frequencies?

I think it's illegal to Tx on those bands using a modified amateur radio.

I don't think it's illegal to modify an amateur radio or build one's own amateur radio.
