talk about good eats...

This afternoon, my errands took me to a place I hadn't been in quite a few years. Buried deep in the ghetto, under the shadows of the skyscrapers of downtown Los Angeles, lies the oasis called Mr. Sippee's. Mr. Sippees is a combination gas station, convenience store, and restaurant. Probably the first; since it preceded gas station convenience stores by a couple of decades.

Here you have a symbiotic choreography of prostitutes, gangsters, cops and lost tourists. The place is a sanctuary; no shooting or looting allowed, since, "we all gots to eat here." You'll find some honest to goodness ghetto food here, at poor folks prices. A dollar buys you a two pound sack of broasted potatoes. And that's the small size. A buck and a half buys you a barbeque pork sandwich to die for. The food's not for the alfalfa sprout nor South Beach crowd, but it's about as hard to pass up as a triple bypass.

If you ever find yourself lost in the ghetto near 11th and Blaine, in Los Angeles. Be sure to stop by. The sideshow of hookers and can collectors is almost worth the price of admission. So there I sat, eating a small feast for just two dollars and change. Can't beat that. This food sure am good.

The above is from Bob of MWR: this is not very far from the 1st EE?
Sounds good enough to warrant a trip downtown. McRib?, I don't think so.
