I thought this was an interesting deal.

I still like the lines of those originals the best. Mine (1983) still has the butt magazine release.

My favorite P7 is the second-generation "P7", the one without the heat shield, with the steel trigger, and with the flush heel magazine release. The original PSP and the first P7 had the protruding magazine release. I prefer the flush release.

Much later on, HK came with a run of what it called the "P7-PSP", which had the flush magazine release, but with matte blue finish and plastic trigger.

I think the P7M8 is the most functional of the various P7s, but from an aesthetic standpoint I prefer the second-generation P7. I bought P7M8s for myself instead of the P7s because I wanted to own the P7K3 (which has the M8-style magazine release behind the trigger guard) and I wanted all of my P7s to have the same manual of arms.

There's a pretty clean used P7M8 at my local gun shop for $850...

Not an H/K but I bought a SIG P229 .40 from a friend in need last week. Can't wait to get it to the range this weekend.
