Gustav, Pelican and Civil Defense

I moved this from the Pelican 1650 Katrina thread...

I am sending the family to Memphis in the event Gustav hits New Orleans. However I have learned from the past. They have a fully loaded 1650 in the wife's vehicle and I have one fully loaded in mine in case of bug-out. Thanks John and Ho.

Additionally, no standing of ground an/or evacuation would be complete without the full hurricane weapon package; 2 Kimber .45s, a 12 Gauge Benelli SBE II and a Beretta 20 Gauge and ammo for all. The local paper reported that sales of firearms and ammo were as common yesterday as people buying water and batteries.

A friend of mine is a NOPD commander. I got a letter from him on NOPD letterhead informing all authorities that the me and the D2 have been retained as a "general and high water vehicle" for the duration. Hopefully, it will help with checkpoints, road blocks and curfews... if not it will look cool framed in my office when this is all over.

I hope this all is much ado about nothing but if not I'll post updates.
