I saw this in person and it looks even better than in the photos, it's very kick ass. Good job John!

I've been jiggling the Spot every day for the past few days to see if the tape is deteriorating from the cold or weight, and I'm happy to report that the tape is still tip top.

Very nice. Are you going to post the Spot for sale on the site?

We are now. LOL.

I have to order some more Spots.

I think the white/gray of the Spot is just perfect for Engelization.

The Spot popped loose yesterday.

The lid on my ARB45 slipped from my hand and slammed shut, and I guess the impact was enough to undo the adhesion and the Spot fell to the bottom of the fridge. I picked up the Spot and stuck it back onto the lid, and it was still there this morning.

So my 3M tape appears to be strong enough to hold the Spot, but not against very sudden decelerations. If I remember the next time I'm at the hardware store, I'm going to try the Armageddon tape and see how that works.

Incidentally, the light is awesome. I was filling my fridge in the dark yesterday and the light really comes in handy. If it comes down to it, I'll even use a screw if necessary to secure this light. I like the light that much.

The Spot fell loose again at Rover Rendezvous. My current tape is not enough. I'm going to try the Armageddon tape and see how that works.

Here's Jack's Sylvania Engel light:

The Spot is now featured on our Black Diamond page.

Here's the stuff I discarded:

Here's a view of what the Spot's body looked like:

Comparing that pic above to this pic shows the amount of plastic I removed:

I still haven't been to the hardware store to buy some of the Armageddon tape.

I think the serious tape will solve your problem. My Dot-it has been on since before Rover Rendezvous and is holding tight.

Anyone install an engel in a D-90 ST? Curious to know where you put it so as not to conflict with the rear bench seat. Thinking about one of these, but not sure I want to permanently convert to a 2-seater for it.

thanks,
-n

Pull the bench seat. Everything else is secondary to the fridge.

Does anyone know if Engel changed any dimensions on their lid? My lid "looks" exactly like the Jack's, but the Dot-It is too wide, so it doesn't fit and nest as nicely as what's shown.

I had to take a die grinder and bevel the edges of the Dot-It to make it fit flush.

David is here at the shop and he had some spare industrial-strength Velcro.

So I removed the junker Velcro from my Black Diamond Spot and put on the industrial stuff. Time will tell if this holds or not, but it feels very secure right now. I tested the Velcro by dropping the lid several times and the light is still affixed to the lid.

We'll see.
