Thanks guys!

The class was great, the first day was a classroom session. That was pretty much review of the DMV permit exam which I had already taken in NY and again in CA, so no biggie there.

The second and third day were out in the field, it was fun. I wish the class had been a bit smaller, there were 12 people in the class... I think 8 would have been better.

The required skill test was based on making 2 consecutive U-turns (figure 8) in a very tight space, an emergency stop, an avoidance swerve and lastly a cornering test.

I should get my DMV waiver form in the mail this week, then I'll just pop down to DMV and get my license. The only shitty part is, I'm going to have to surrender my NYS license. Once I get the CA one, I'll have to go to DMV in NY and surrender that one in order to get another NYS one. Seems like a big pain in the ass but less so than taking the DMV road test.

Very stoked! Now I just need to remind my friend about his offer on the Honda XR. All my friends and even Jennifer have told me I should get a Ducati Monster and not a dirt bike. I'm considering it... any thoughts from you guys? This is just to ride around NYC and to work (6mi).

If your interested in a Monster I have one in my garage, holding it for a friend that now wants to sell it. It's a 2003 620 Dark, matte silver in color, has like 800 miles on it, has a small ding in the tank from the bike tipping over at a stop

$5500 bike is located in Temple City, Ca.

I'm also on advrider.com for reference. I am just helping my friend sell her bike since it is taking up space in my garage.

Same name as here. I sold my GS back in Sept. no time to ride, too busy with the kiddies. But I find myself checking in more and more at advrider...I think I am suffering from withdraws.

Pic is from my last long ride, BabyButt 2004 San Diego to Laughlin the long way 1000 miles in 24hrs.

It's a very nice looking bike, one of my friends has convinced me that it would be too small for me and I would out grow it very quickly. He is suggesting at least a 750 but thinks I should get a 900 (I think he wants my watch too).

Thanks for posting the pics

No prob. I out grew a BMW F650 when I started in less than a year.

BTW...the 16610LV is very nice. Just picked up a SpeedMaster Pro 3573.50 sapphire sandwich, can't stop looking at it...

She was quite a character...very nice too. As I stood there and watched my father test drive the BSA, I thought that she could very easily kick my ass at any given moment without breaking a sweat. It was kinda hot.

I dunno...

Sometimes I think people get into big bikes too quickly. That thing probably makes as much power as my 1150.

Yeah, so what's wrong with outgrowing a bike? You sell it, and buy another. I think it's better to error on the side of too small rather than too large. This coming from someone who just got a 1200 Adv, but I've been riding for 30 yrs
