I called Bill (hilldweller) an evangelical vegan back in the day. That pissed him off something awful.

He tried to get me to go vegan. Of course I'm more likely to be buried on Mars. He seemed disappointed in me. I have never been able to figure out if he's trying to mentor me or just bring me into his little cult.

He reminds me of some old Soviet agent that can't get an enemy agent to turn.

Every vegan I've met was evangelical about it. That's because veganism is his religion. Note that the vast majority of vegans are atheists. This isn't a coincidence. People naturally want to believe in something bigger than themselves, so atheists latch onto things like liberalism, or veganism, or objectivism, and other isms.

You know that you're in their head when they insult your kid. Again.

What a low-life.

Remember some of the other low-lifes on ExPo from the last EE Dogpile thread?

I can't remember the exact details, but I do remember someone on ExPo photoshopped someone else's wife in some really shitty way.

Someone else did a Chad Dahlquist and changed his linked photo of his trailer build to a photo of some butt-fucking or something along those lines. Again, I can't remember the exact details.

These low-lifes are not alone either. Isn't it funny how ExPo is chock full of them? I've always said that the vast majority of Overlandurs are white trash trying to fake their way out of the gutter.

That's why they were so drawn to Overlanding. They saw that legitimacy and belonging were for sale and they took the bait. They subscribed to a Journal. Boy, were they legit now. They bought a challenge coin and it even had a member number on it. Of course they took that. And now they could rendezvous with one another periodically at overland gatherings, like those poor people Tony Robbins students who go to this or that resort several times a year to hook up with Tony and walk on burning coals or ride zip lines to challenge themselves.

That's why these people hate EE so much. I won't sell them what they're looking for. They don't come here looking to buy some lights or a tow strap or a stove. They want belonging. They want acceptance. They want validation. Approval. They want to be buddies. They want me to look at their 4Runner Trail Edishun and and not bust out laughing. Whatever they're looking for, it's something other than product and I won't give it to them. That's why they hate my fucking guts.

The annual "EE Hurt My Feelings" thread

I missed this comment...this is funny as hell and so true. If you don't pile on with the other dipshits and give kudos and unconditional support and thumbs up for whatever meaningless thing they've done with their "rig" or their "gear" then you must be publicly shamed.

that thread has to be among the top 5 growing threads on expo

john, i keep telling you, you gotta monetize the hate - the haters will give you their money because they cant stop themselves, and the supporters will join the army

create a EE youtube channel - and just voice-over bash everything

500k subscribers later, you will thank me

Damn, that's a good idea. My wife watches the Real Housewives of Whateverthefuck and that franchise is gold. They just sit around and bash each other, and for some reason women eat that up. You could bring in guest hosts to critique photos and videos. You could invite the owners to Skype in to retort, and you know they couldn't resist, because criticizing their vehicles is like questioning their manhood.
Finish out each segment with a look at a properly sorted vehicle or good, simple piece of gear.

This could be a public service. You might even save marriages, because someone's wife would say "John says a roof top tent is stupid, and we should spend the money on gas" and some poor schmuck wouldn't get sideways with his wife for wasting money.

good lord, even better.

a few stools surrounding a snapon tool drawer, a couple bar stools, some glasses of scotch - headsets and mics - 10/15min open conversations and critique as you browse photos and videos of overlandings finest.

a modest 100-200k views per episode, and more hate mail than any lawyer can handle

My all-time favorite PSAON post wasn't even in PSAON:

It's too bad that we've been using shitty image hosts because the photos are now gone.

Hate mail would be awesome.
I would love to hear the justification for setting up a Pee-Pee-Teepee in a campground that has flush toilets. I'm sure there would be five minutes on why that made sense.
