Well that sucks.

Dakar is dangerous. People die every year.
I have to wonder if terror threats were really going to change much?

You mean that the Dakar racers would have been able to find the terrorists?

Would've put an interesting twist to the race.

Years of preparation, millions of dollars, etc.

What a shame.

Here are a few pictures i took before and after the announcement;

Charlie Rauseo and the Jonah Street 'Rally Pan Am' team, the evening before the rally was cancelled;

Factory KTM teams leaving - post cancellation;

KTM 690 factory Rally bike, block-long wheelie (on the right);

Disappointment;

Instead of riding from Setubal to Troia, we chose to take the ferry across - good choice;

Those bikes look awesome. They look so good, I'm even digging the high fender.

And the saddle tanks are sweet with those grab handles on there.

Bruno did you see JeanLuc's thread "Chasing Summer" on Advrider? There are some pics of the 690 Rally at a dealership.

Guys what are those planks across the back, are they some kind of sand ladder or loading ramps? I dig it.

Thanks Bruno. Somehow the sandglow and camel logo looks pretty good on this Pug.

Look like the Dakar will continue on in South America. 2009? So far away...
