Sir Edmund Hillary RIP

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,321906,00.html

Reports say Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reached the summit of Mt. Everest while wearing early versions of the Rolex Explorer 1016. My favorite watch.

I love the explorer too. So I went to rolex.com to read about a new Explorer I heard about, with a new movement....

well, I didn't find anything, because I never made it past the first page:

I just love gold.

EXP is staying the same movement, case, etc. I believe. The Sub is up for a remodel a la GMTIIceramic, but the EXP stays intact. The 14060m no-Date Sub is getting a COSC rating on the face, and the EXP may as well, but the movement is the same, just tested and rated. New no-date Sub also gets the engraved chapter ring (ROLEXROLEXROLEX) inside the face.

I looked at the two tone GMTIIc a couple of months ago and seriously got interested, but then I got over it.

I love my EXP though, it gets the most wrist time of them all...

Hillary was wearing a Smiths, and Norgay was wearing the precursor to the Explorer: info from the vintage rolex forum.
