TATA?

Who is Tata? With land Rover being purchased by Tata, Land Rovers better not start looking like this.

The Freelander and LR2 are looking good compared to this.
Just another company using LR for its off road technology.

The Tata buy is already looking good for North America.

They have just confirmed that the Defender will be back for the 2010 model year, with a diesel too!

Scott, where did you read that?

(I'm jaded because there have been so many Defender teasers over the past few years.)

Interesting.

I hope it's true. 2010 model year is 2009. That's only next year.

We'll see if Tata delivers.

Seems overly ambitious. Being a selfish Defender owner, I like things the way they are. I can already imagine how flooded the LA area will be with all the yahoos driving around in Defenders.

April Fools! Good one.

It'll be a sad day when they replace it with something comparable, though. Look at all those poor hacked up D-1s on DWeb. I shudder to think of all the Jeep-ified D-90s if this were ever to pass...

I've given up on LR. I'd like to see Iveco bring their offering here.

LOL

Back to reality-it would be nice if TATA actually puts out the money to bring back the Defender-even if as a limited model.

I've sometimes wished Mercedes would offer a decontented G-wagen with the CDI diesel. After all, they still import the G500 and they also sell the GL320 CDI in many states.

In all seriousness, I believe that Tata will bring back the Defender to NA.

Jay Leno had a good joke the other night referring to Tata and Land Rover. It went something like:

The big Land Rover vehicle is now called the Range Rover [referring to size]. Since Tata took Land Rover over, will the big Range Rovers now be referred to as Bodacious Tata's?

I thought it was funny.

Haha. Got you.

I actually love April Fool's Day and St. Patrick's Day.

I just said I didn't to be part of the April Fool's Day Festivities.

Got you.

Actually, I didn't.

Because when I said I got you, I was only joking.

So I didn't really get you.

You stand corrected once again.

See how much April Fool's Day is?

I think that may over-rate it a bit.
