Note the lack of gloves. Paul Sherwen often says that he went without gloves on purpose because he wanted to feel the bars on the pave.

What a stud.

This pic is awesome:

The Sky boys have all "the kit". They're all kitted out with $300 Oakleys, Pinarello kit carbonio Dogmas, SRM power meters, computers, electronic shifting, high-dollar Rapha clothing, and so on. These guys are also awesome riders.

And yet, I can't help but think the Sky boys look like clowns next to Marie Curie there. They're wearing helmets; she's not. They have advertising on their asses; she doesn't. Their clothing is shiny; her clothing isn't. Their clothing and bikes are matched to the point that they look contrived; her clothing and bike don't match and neither do they clash. These guys look as though they're trying too hard; she looks like a cool motherfucker.

In a race, clearly the Sky boys would smash Madame Curie. But I'm going with Madame Curie for style points.

It's nice to see that some things never change. However, I can't help but think that some other things were lost over time.

Race officials suspended and transported the race down the course to more favorable weather and road conditions due to snow for this year's milan - san remo. I wonder if they stopped the race back then.

I can't embed this one, but it's pure:

I love how that clip ends with Pingeon's boys on the pave. No helmets or anything. You'd probably go to jail today for something like that.

Monsieur Paris-Roubaix in action:

Look at his awesome aero hood position. No rider today uses that bitchin position.
