Genuine Parts

Guys, I need a no-bullshit source for Genuine Parts. I buy from EE when it's something they stock but for other stuff I have to go to Rovers North or AB. I used to have good luck with RN and AB but lately, it's a crapshoot whether or not they'll ship me the real deal Genuine stuff.

My fuel sender is flaking out and the fuel gauge isn't reading accurately. The needle is reliable below 1/2 full but won't ever go above that. This makes me think that it's a mechanical problem with the sender, probably because my truck sat around for a month while I was in NC. I ran some BG44 through it to no avail. I think it's the shitty Britpart fuel pump that I swapped in a couple of years ago.

Dropping the tank on the 90 is such a colossal pain in the ass so I want to swap this POS fuel pump for Genuine but I can't find one. I want the genuine shitty Lucas stuff. I used to call George but he seems to have stopped stocking NAS parts. Where can I go?

(no, I don't want to buy used parts)

Can you get on the phone with a tech guy at RN or AB and get them to check the origin of the part?

I've done that, only to receive Britpart substitutions. I guess most people don't care whether they use Genuine and consequently, most vendors don't care, either.

Will Tillery sells new genuine parts for about a 1/3rd of what AB or RN sells them for.

That's horrible. It's a leak prone rig job.

RN is just awful.

I don't know if it's the morons with $1800 trucks who have led suppliers to ship stuff like this, or maybe the Genuine stuff just isn't available anymore but the replacement part situation for these old trucks is starting to suck.

It's still available. I just ordered/installed one on a 2004 I bought, put a motor in, and sold.

They said I would have had to wait all of 4 days to get the genuine so itís their policy to just ship the proline one without asking.

One would think that when you make the choice between genuine and non genuine youíre telling them which part you want. I guess not because they said if I wanted only a genuine hose then I have to say that in the order notes when ordering online or tell them that over the phone. Isnít that the point of having a choice between the proline and genuine? This is just stupid. They are now shipping me the correct hose.

I guess Iíll try Will Tillery for parts next time.

Funny, I've ordered tons of genuine LR parts from RN and never once done so via their website.

From the RN site:

"We only recommend genuine hoses. There is a dramatic difference in quality! Includes: Genuine radiator hoses, heater hoses, expansion tank hoses, thermostat, gasket and all neccessary clamps."

Then why automatically send you the ProLine? They probably charged you the Genuine price, too.

Hi folks, new to the board...but I've been wondering, does anyone know when Will Tillery's website is coming back online?

I have no idea on the site. I just call or send him a p.m. on discoweb, pay via PayPal and get the parts in a few days.

I'm not sure if this is irony or poetic justice.
