So I found my G2 in an old range bag- I thought I had lost it. Your post got me thinking, because mine still had one of the old "turbo" Surefire incandescent heads in it- battery life was published at about 30 mins, if I recall correctly. It was stinking bright when I first got it, but that was around 15 years ago before LEDs were the thing.

I looked at Malkoff, but cheaped out and got this one:

So far it works well, but I had to chop down a spring so that it would fit the G2 body (the reviews mentioned this). Its much brighter than the Surefire head. I don't know about battery life, but it has got to be better than 30 mins.

500 lumens for $9 shipped?

How do you beat that? Even if the actual lumen output is far less than 500, still how do you beat that?

With a better quality one that won't crap out.

I have two surefire flashlights that have never faltered. I have a few cheap ones that have failed. I really, really hate it when I buy cheap stuff that fails. Even though I'm only out a few bucks, I feel like an idiot for hoping that it will be a quality item that just happens to be cheap.

Time will tell. If it fails, I'll send it back and buy a Malkoff, I swear.
