Death Valley Soiree

In light of the fact that there's no longer any large events on the calendar for this faction of the SoCal crowd I thought some of us might want to get together for a come-one-come-all gathering in Death Valley in February or March.
This is not a club event, bbq, raffle or competition. Just an opportunity to meet up, chit chat, take some pics, talk shit with the familiar faces and do some group trail runs over a weekend in Death Valley.

I'll take responsibility for picking an area/campsite (preferably BLM) which permits group camping without a lot of bullshit and post GPS coordinates. Other than that just come as you are. No itinerary, no meal rotation, no guest list. Plan to come Friday night and leave Sunday.

Post your thoughts on dates. I'm going to throw out March 5th to 7th.

As long as it's a weekend, I'm in. Preferably March.

Definitely BLM camping.

I've never been off the pavement in Death Valley, so I will be stoked if my schedule allows me to join.

You didn't drive anywhere offroad when I saw you begging for Imodium at Panamint Springs?

Yeah let's do this.

I saw Rick Petersen over the weekend and he said he's in.

Rick asked about shooting if we camped on BLM land. I told him if we did our homework and it was without-a-doubt above the board I would bring target stands and a shot timer and run a couple IDPA type stages.

Okay, we're still on for our little Death Valley get together.

Here's who's in so far:

Jack Quinlan
Greg Hirst
David Shechter
Read Kerlin
Rick Petersen
Sinuhe Schrecengost
Steve Cooper

Seriously, it's an open invite. Anyone can come and meet up. You don't have to be pals with me or any of the people listed above. Just post that you're coming and show-up for chit chat, trail cuisine and a few scenic trails.
If we get a mostly shooter crowd and we're on BLM, Rick and I will run a little IDPA match. I'll bring target stands, score sheets and a shot timer. If we have a match, we'll be running it cold.

I'll post coordinates to a rendezvous this week.

I'm in for a drive by. I will be out there with my 8yr old, might be in and out of camp, but it's his first time so we'll be all over the place doing the highlight tour.

I'm in as of now - just replaced the fuel pump, steering shaft and shocks - feels much better on the supermarket speed bumps - are we still on?

I'm hearing from too many people that this weekend isn't good.

Let's try for another date when more people can go.
What do you like?
