Subject: good morning...from texas!

a couple things...
wanted to say i really enjoy your website and am in hopes of making some purchases in the near future...
after just finishing my new exaust, new old man emu suspension, tires and rims, new distributor and some interior work i am ready for some fun purchases...
i am interested in putting my snorkel on but am missing the top piece/intake. i brought this from england with me and was wondering if you sold the intake part seperately (or any intake for that matter!!!)...having a hard time finding a classic snorkel and have seen some photos in your galleries (han chung i believe-white classic)of raised air users...there are 3-4 range rover drivers here in texas that are intersted also...possibly complete set ups...
also i noticed the old style EE stickers for autos you used to carry...being from england i have numerous stickers (with country abbreviations) on mine and coincidentally my first and surname initials are E.E. i was wondering if you still carried those stickers and would love to purchase a couple...look good on my new "rust free" tailgate!!!
in the spring am looking at jerry cans and rock sliders...am dusting off the mastercard for you guys!!!
hope you can help with the raised air intake problem and thank you for your time today!
regards-
Erik Eblen

exactly.

however, this guy breaks the trend a bit by driving a classic. I could have sworn that was P38 type rationalization.

Jack, you have it all wrong. Thats not a P38 rationalization, thats an Air Force rationalization. Probably pissed that the country club (AF officers club) is out of beluga caviar.

john, u should'v said that the 89 classic snorkels were back ordered from "england" and that your "container" order is on the vessel somewhere in the atlantic. and that the demand for the snorkels for the classics are in such high demand that Mr. "EE" should put a down payment for one... blah blah blah...

I wonder what a "decent response" would have been.

"Bugger off you tosser!" comes to mind.

Tell me about it. I guess this guy thought he would butter us up so that we would sell him a snorkel cap for his homemade snorkel job. It's amazing how cheap fucks think we don't speak Cheapfuckese. Little do they know, EVERY vendor speaks Cheapfuckese. We're so used to dealing with cheap fucks that we pick up Cheapfuckese very quickly. And it's such a turn-off. I would prefer it if the guy said something like, "Hey, I'm making my own snorkel; are the caps available separately?"

For those of you who don't speak Cheapfuckese, let me translate his email for you.

Cheapfuckese: "wanted to say i really enjoy your website and am in hopes of making some purchases in the near future..."

English: "I'll never buy anything from EE. But I, just like all cheap fucks, like to use the dangling carrot trick to get what I want from people."

Cheapfuckese: "after just finishing my new exaust, new old man emu suspension, tires and rims, new distributor and some interior work i am ready for some fun purchases..."

English: "My truck is a beater. I'll never buy anything from EE."

Cheapfuckese: "i am interested in putting my snorkel on but am missing the top piece/intake. i brought this from england with me and was wondering if you sold the intake part seperately (or any intake for that matter!!!)...having a hard time finding a classic snorkel and have seen some photos in your galleries (han chung i believe-white classic)of raised air users...there are 3-4 range rover drivers here in texas that are intersted also...possibly complete set ups..."

English: "I saw Han's Mantec snorkel and want one for myself, but I can't afford one so I thought about making my own snorkel. Of course I can't make the snorkel cap, so I thought I would fabricate a story of how I bought a Mantec snorkel in England that somehow didn't come with the cap, just because I think you're so stupid that you would believe my stupidly incredible story. That's why I tried to butter you up as well, just so that you'd be less likely to question my stupidly incredible story. I also don't have any friends, but thought I would add that I have 3-4 friends who want the same thing, just because I think you're stupid enough to fall for the dangling carrot thing that I and all other cheap fucks like to use, and you're also dumb enough to believe that I have 3-4 friends who were as dumb as I am and purchased Mantec snorkels without the cap."

Cheapfuckese: "also i noticed the old style EE stickers for autos you used to carry...being from england i have numerous stickers (with country abbreviations) on mine and coincidentally my first and surname initials are E.E. i was wondering if you still carried those stickers and would love to purchase a couple...look good on my new "rust free" tailgate!!!"

English: "My truck is a beater. I really wouldn't purchase anything from EE, including stickers, but I thought I would offer to purchase some EE stickers, knowing full well that the vast majority of vendors like free advertising and would just send me their stickers for free. This usually works so I'll try it with you."

Cheapfuckese: "in the spring am looking at jerry cans and rock sliders...am dusting off the mastercard for you guys!!!"

English: "I'll never purchase anything from EE. I'm just using the dangling carrot thing once again because that's all I have. I'm so stupid I really think this trick works."

"I need a brake job. i think my rotors are worn on my 94 disco. i'd like to have you guys machine them."

"actually you have a solid disk rotor system with relatively thin rotors. I can't assess the condition of your brake components over the phone but you may need one of two things: pads or pads and rotors. When LR rotors are worn below the min. thickness we simply replace them. On avg. rover rotors last two brake pad changes. Much like BMW and Mercedes the rotors are thin and designed to be replaced but are priced accordingly and are somewhat less expensive than other makes."

"so I have three options: keep the rotors, machine them, or replace them"

"no. you CANNOT machine, turn, or otherwise repair worn LR rotors. you only have two options."

"geez. that is totally ridiculous. what do new rotors and brakes cost?"

"assuming you mean rotors and pads it is $415/axle pads and rotors installed"

"you mean it's a $900 brake job?!!"

"I can't say without seeing your car and determining what it needs"

"yeah well that's outrageous thanks"

click.

"well fuckface maybe after you 1)learn a single thing about the car which you have supposedly owned for so long 2)shop around 3)get a clue, you'll realize no one is trying to screw you over you're just too lazy to do a little research and too cheap to pay someone else to do that research and work you are incapable of for you."

another favorite:

"The BECM on your p38 range rover is totally shot because your heater core o-rings have not been inspected or replaced and have leaked coolant into your footwell. you need the BECM for the car to work at all. that's why it wouldn't start/run properly. the heater core o-rings are a well documented problem."

"you mean this happens all the time?"

"yes, if a competent technician/shop doesn't reguarly inspect for this known condition it frequenlty results in the loss of the BECM."

"you mean this $68,000 car has a design problem where it leaks and kills the computer??!!"

"I'm sorry I thought you said you purchased the car used, are you the orginal owner?"

"no i bought it 6 months ago"

"ahhh so you bought a 97 Range Rover in 2004. what did you pay if you don't mind my asking?

"$12,000 with 72k miles"

"oh well you got a pretty fair deal. you got about $12,000 worth of car.
including leaky heater core o-rings.
so would you like to be able to drive your $12,000 car or not?"

Not car related...

Yesterday this lady calls and is screaming at me that I am liar and a cheat. I resisted the urge to say "I'm going to put you on hold. It's going to sound a lot like a dial tone, but let that throw you." so that I could find out how I had lied.

She had called earlier for a price. I had told her that I would need to see the art first (based on her telephone description it was a custom thing), before I would bid the job. I explained to her the things that would effect the price and why it effected the price. She then faxed through the art and I gave her a bid. Needless to say, it deviated from straight catalog pricing and fell under the "may require a decal at additional charge, subject to seeing the art" clause in our catalog.

So after 10-15min of her explaining how she had been in the business for 20 years and she knew everything there was to know and I'm a liar, a cheat, an unethical business person, etc etc... I finally asked what it was she wanted me to do? Her response was the I must work with her in the price. I agreed to take a little off the price (I'm a softy what can I say) and she was very happy.

So... after a 25min telephone call she saved herself, because of my discount... are you ready... $7.20!

Un-fucking-believable!

Long ago I came to the conclusion that all of the cheap fucks out there have never worked a retail sales job for any reasonable period of time.

If they had, they would know that every merchant has heard different variations of the same made-up or embellished story dozens, if not hundreds of times over.

The crack-up is that without fail every single one of them thinks they're being original and crafty with their excuses.

This last exchange went a little differently from most of them. Usually it goes something like this:

"Hello. I love your website and I'm getting ready to make a really purchase from Expedition Exchange. Your vehicle stickers are really great too. Could you send me Expedition Exchange decals? I'd be happy to pay for them."

"Sorry, but we don't sell the EE stickers. The stickers are free with every purchase, but we don't give them out to anyone or sell them. No exceptions. If you want the stickers on your vehicle, that is great. However, the stickers are for EE customers only."

"You mother fucker. You fucking asshole. Blah blah blah."

I sense an EE sticker black market starting up. I buy enough from EE to have a nice stack of stickers... I could sell them on the cheap fuck black market. They must be worth... $15-20, right?
