More OMEGA Porn - A Revival Of The Moon Watch In Space Use

I was checking out one of the NASA sites and found some very interesting OMEGA porn. While the Shuttle is grounded, flight crews are still going to and training for going to the ISS. Here is some OMEGA action:

http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/...2002e51748.jpg
http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/...s007e18044.jpg

That is the typical X-33 action, and it's certainly interesting (at least to me). But what is more interesting (again, at least to me) is that there seem to be more than a few Moon Watches still in use by the ISS Expedition Crews. I especially like this one, with Moon Watch in the center and X-33 on the right:

That Moon Watch (or possibly a Broadarrow?) with the brown calfskin strap is just bad ass. Homeboy on the right is wearing an X-33. This one is also interesting:

Is it me, or is Alexander Kalery (on the left) holding another Moon Watch in his hand? I think it is but I'm not positively sure. One thing for sure, that's an X-33 on his right forearm. And check out this one:

http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/...2003e60951.jpg

That's definitely a Moon Watch on Foale's right forearm and it looks to be an X-33 on his left wrist.

What a timeless timepiece. Long live the Moon Watch!

Sheeeit. I'll bet if those guys were wearing some gold nugget Rolex watches with diamond-encrusted bezels, you'd be all over that like white on rice.

They got everything up there. They got OMEGA Speedmasters. They got ThinkPads. They got Hasselblad. They got Leica. They got Carl Zeiss. They got Victorinox. They got the Lunar Rover. They got the Mars Rover. The only things they don't have up there are Prada, Jeeps, and Rolexes.

Here's some more OMEGA porn:

http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/...2003e60954.jpg

You're on your way to be launched into space and you're wearing a Moon watch on the right forearm and Mars watch on the left wrist. It just doesn't get any better than that.

http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/...s008e05881.jpg

You're about to do an EVA and you've got a Moon Watch strapped to your left forearm, on the outside of the EVA suit. Compare that pic to this one:

http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/...s008e05964.jpg

Homeboy can wear his Mickey Mouse watch INSIDE the ISS, but when the watch has to be exposed to the vacuum and temperature extremes of space, only the OMEGA will do. Same goes for launches, when only the OMEGA will do.

The Moon Watch lives.
