I was already hand-carrying another 1510 with my camera gear. My guns are back home in Texas; keeping a privately-owned weapon on a military installation isn't worth the trouble, unfortunately.

No worries. I was just curious. My brother just came out to Seattle recently and carried his 1510 on, which is why I was wondering.

Chris, that case would be covered under Pelican's warranty. Unless you want to keep that case as a novelty, just send it back here and we'll replace it with a new one.

Thanks, John. This case didn't come from you guys. It belongs to a friend of mine and was mounted on a mast above his house. It sat up there for three years, protecting a radio that provided his wireless Internet access. He discovered the damage when the radio failed due to water ingress. I'm not sure if he plans on sending it back to Pelican or keeping it as a souvenir.

One of these years I'll finally call Pelican for the updated latches for my 900 cases.

What's the deal with that anyway? Will they just send the latches to you? I've got a 1650 and a 1500's with the old latches.

Chris,

send me your friend's pelican. I must test out Pelican's unconditional warranty.

and for those of you who need new latches, let me know which model case, and how many you need.

John or Ho,
What are your impressions of the 0450?
I'm looking for a new travel case for work. I'm currently using a 1600NF and wonder if the 0450 might be to heavy when loaded up with tools. In my experience, airline baggage handlers tend beat up cases that are more that 50lbs.

Oh, and Ho, i have a 1600 that i'd love new latches for

Very cool, thank you! Staci and I are moving in a few weeks so as I dig some of the lesser cases out I can get a count.

Marc,

I think the 0450 is too heavy for the airline cargo guys to beat up on. It's heavy enough that they will run the risk of getting hurt if they mistreat it. LOL

I'll get you a set of latches for the 1600.

Chris, whenever, just let me know how many of which case.

Do the cargo guys beat up on bags covered with their own airline's stickers?

chris, they tend not to discriminate when the bags are heavy. trust me when I say, "all heavy bags get abused"

thanks Ho

yes, they are free. Just pay postage and I'll get them out.

I'll get the new latches next time I am at Pelican.

Ho, just wondering when you might be dropping in at Pelican again? I broke one of the latches on my 1450 tonight, and remembered you said you could get new style latches. If you can, I'd really appreciate it! Let me know and I'll call the shop or send paypal, whatever is easiest, I need some rotors and pads anyways so I might just do it all at once.

edit: no hurry, just didn't know if you had them already.

Lee,

When you order the rotors and pads, just let me know how many latches and I'll include them with the order.

lid organizer screws

Thanks, Ho, for the latches and the speedy shipping on the new 1610.
quick question, i have an older lid organizer for a 1620 that i'd like to put onto my new 1610, do you know what size the screws are to fasten the lid organizer on?
i like the fancy new screw bosses in the lid. i always hated the way the lid organizers never stayed in place...

thanks again!
marc
