Skyscraper for Rob.

(Wichita Falls, TX)

Incidentally, this is from a post on the Facebooks from James McMurtry. He writes some good songs.

That rimfire Ma Deuce is awesome. However, the rate of fire seems rather incongruous for the M2. More MG42.

That would really be awesome-a rimfire mini MG42 on a miniature Lafette tripod.

Every few months the Lilliput Motor Company sends me their little catalog:

I always enjoy the cars, boats, motorcycles and the military miniatures but I think of Rob when I get to the mini steam engines:

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/no...-than-amoebas/

Quote:
Thrips are tiny insects, typically just a millimetre in length. Some are barely half that size. If thatís how big the adults are, imagine how small a thripsí egg must be. Now, consider that there are insects that lay their eggs inside the egg of a thrips.

Thatís one of them in the image above Ė the wasp, Megaphragma mymaripenne. Itís pictured next to a Paramecium and an amoeba at the same scale. Even though both these creatures are made up of a single cell, the wasp Ė complete with eyes, brain, wings, muscles, guts and genitals Ė is actually smaller. At just 200 micrometres (a fifth of a millimetre), this wasp is the third smallest insect alive* and a miracle of miniaturization.

It's a crack-up how junior's machine has Campagnolo on it.

I kinda wish the Team Sky mechanics got bored or something and went totally Armageddon on junior's machine and kitted it all out with the entire 11-speed electronic pieces that even some of the Shimano teams don't have. Team Sky isn't exactly hurting for equipment:

Not for Rob:

It's my older nephew's new ride. Against my better judgment, I left the reflectors on. I'm also a little bummed that it's a mountain bike, but it's still a pretty cool bike overall and has a legit fork and V-brakes:

I guess I pulled the boot loose when I was wiping down the bike.

Grip shift:

Rear derailleur and six-speed cassette:

This bike's shifting is nice. Note how the upper pulley's axis is concentric with the cage's pivot axis. Shimano is copying SRAM.

Damn right not for me. Should have got him a single speed with no suspension. I bet that thing weights 30 pounds. Kids don't need all that complexity they need durability. At least he is riding though

Not sure if Rob is joking but I agree. After both my girls graduated from the pink Pocahantas bike with coaster brakes after the training wheel stage, they got a lightweight comp BMX bike. No suspension, single speed and single v brake.

I think it was a Trek Wade Bootes Edition and then moved up to a bit larger Haro comp bike. Still have them.
