Land Rover Buckhead in Atlanta has their Trek out front.

I'm tempted to call and see if it is for sale.

Are the G4 competition vehicles "Land Rover Special Vehicles"? Some say yes, some no; I haven't looked at one very closely. I will soon though (more on that another time). If someone has some official info-let me know.

Han's G4 Mk3 is a LRSV, as are the 2003 TReK Discos.

Ho's "G4 Edition" is not.

Everything is for sale... especially at a dealership

John, did they rivet a placard/metal plate in the engine bay like on the Trek's, or just put stickers on it? Thanks

I thought Han's Mk3 had the riveted placard. I can't recall for sure though.

Would it just be a lot of work, expensive and poseur to order and install Technical Mogul Fabric in my G4? It's really a G4 "edition" thing, but I can't help how damn sweet they are. Not that I would do this before other more reasonable preparations; I just caught myself looking at my cracked driver's side leather seating surface and thought how Ho will probably never have to deal with that, or water or sand or wear or tear, you get the idea.

I really like those black nylon Genuine seat covers. I prefer these to the nubby rubber seats on the G4 editions. I say go with the black nylon covers.

There was a guy last week, on E-bay selling his G4 edition front and back seats. It never sold. No bidders. I might have his e-mail address.

I might have seen that listing. If it was the same one you're referring to, the guy didn't realize or was lying, but they were the Duragrain surfaces. I've seen quite a few G4 Editions without the Tech Mogul Fabric seating; apparently the dealers had to order it with the G4s or some dealerships were just lucky enough to get one in with the seating. If you're certain it was the Mogul, and I'm not insulting your attention to detail, then I would love to see what he would want to let them go for.
John, I do really like the idea of Genuine seat covers and I probably will go that route. The black looks awesome with the '03/'04 interior and it would keep the interior unique the way it was as a team vehicle in the challenge.
The genuine seat covers were used in the Trek editions. Very nice indeed.

hmm.... what kind are the Ho's rubby nubby seats

Are they dura-grain or mogul?

Oh, never-mind. I went back to the closed listing and they are regular leather.

Wow... I thought they all came with the rubber seats. go figure.

I'm not feeling it on this SV badge. The ICOM 706 or 208 would look so much better there.

While these trucks are cool the events aren't particularly noteworthy.

As far as "G4 Edition" vs "G4 Competition Vehicle" I could care less.
The G4 is lame so being in the event itself does nothing more for me the color hasn't already done.

Now CT truck, that is something special.
No XD or sandglow wannabe can touch it, but it also has all kinds of cool shit beyond the sticker package and then you add the glory of the Camel Trophy itself and you're on cloud nine.

G4 and TReK are nothing in comparison, but I give the nod to TReK over G4.
The concept of the dealer comp was cool and the fourwheeling was actually pretty good.

The whole G4 Eco challenge shit just seems like the hokiest of all failed marketing ploys.

No doubt the Camel Trophy was the shit. But a truck from this event would be just that. Those vehicles were trashed because the event wasn't some poseur event like the Trek or G4 Challenge. But as far as finding a nice vehicle to work with (a low SD rack one could never find otherwise); these vehicles are a descent option. The event itself I could care less about.

But then again, here's some Range Rover love in Madagascar:
