A steel mesh grill protects the lens from light impacts. Comes with mounting bracket and wiring harness. A ball-and-socket mounting arrangement provides for infinite adjustments. |

Land Rover Genuine Parts Steel Wheel Chock (ANR5449) $14 The Steel Wheel Chock is small and light enough that you can always have proper wheel chocks handy with your vehicle's other tools. This wheel chock is standard fitment on LR3's, but there is no reason why all Land Rover drivers should not enjoy its virtues. The unit folds flat to optimize the device for storage, and expands for actual use. Keep at least two wheel chocks in your vehicle at all times. |

Land Rover Genuine Parts Road Hazard Triangle (KCC500021) $48 Increase safety whenever you're broken down on the side of the road by putting the Road Hazard Triangle 100 meters behind your vehicle to give a heads up to other drivers. The triangle is made from polymer, and features highly reflective panels along the triangle's perimeter for night operation and a bright orange-colored triangle within the triangle body for day operation. Four legs splay open and closed and lock in the open position to prevent tipping over from vehicles driving past. The triangle folds neatly into a very small area and a handy storage case is provided, so there's no reason not to keep one or even two inside your vehicle at all times. |

Also very suitable for use as a utility shovel around camp. |

Mounting bolts not included. |

Land Rover Genuine Parts Rubberized Spring Isolator (ANR2938) $23 The Rubberized Spring Isolator is factory fitted to the tops of the rear springs of several Land Rover vehicles and is designed to minimize the transmission of road, suspension, and drivetrain vibration and noise to the vehicle's cabin. This isolator can also be used as a spring shim to level out a listing vehicle, or even to raise a vehicle. Unlike the Old Man Emu 10mm Trim Packer (which can be mounted safely only to the tops of the rear springs), this isolator can be fitted front or rear, top or bottom. You can even mount eight different isolators to all four of your springs for additional lift and/or additional vibration and noise attenuation. |

Land Rover Genuine Parts Rubberized Shock Tower Securing Ring (RBC100111) $37 If you drive a Defender, Discovery Series I, or coilsprung Range Rover Classic, replace your sheet metal shock tower retaining ring with this rubberized version that is factory fitted to Discovery Series II's. The bolt pattern and diameter are identical, and this unit will fit the Defender, Discovery Series I, and coilsprung Range Rover Classics without modification to the vehicle. The entire unit is covered in rubber and attenuates the transmission of road, suspension, and drivetrain vibration and noise to the vehicle's cabin. Mounting hardware included. (Shown with Old Man Emu Heavy-Duty Spring which is sold separately.) |

Land Rover Genuine Parts Spring Seat (NRC9700) $18 The factory air suspension is a liability on any offroad vehicle. We opine that all serious fourwheelers should replace their air suspension with Old Man Emu Springs for additional clearance and enhanced reliability. These Spring Seats fit between the coil springs and axle and hold your coil springs in place. This Spring Seat fits the front and rear springs on Range Rover Classics, Discovery Series I's, and Defender 90's, as well as the front of the Defender 110. Disco2's require a different Spring Seat. |

Land Rover Genuine Parts Magnetic Drain Plug (FTC5208) $11 Replace your standard drain plugs with the Magnetic Drain Plug. The Magnetic Drain Plugs come standard on the Disco2, but also fit the front and rear differentials on Land Rover vehicles with solid axles such as the Defenders, Disco1, and Range Rover Classic. A powerful magnet on the tip collects metal particles inside the axle and prevents these particles from causing additional wear to the differential, gears, and bearings contained within the axle. More importantly, the presence or absence of metallic particles on the drain plug at service time gives visible indication of possible problems with the drivetrain components. |

These switches fit perfectly into the factory cutouts in your Defender's dash and give a very factory appearance to your auxiliary wiring setup |

This Tethered Fuel Filler Cap is standard fitment on the Discovery and is an elegant solution to the problem of losing fuel filler caps. The tether also permits the cap to hang freely while refueling your vehicle and there is no need to place the cap on the wheel carrier or elsewhere. Not only is losing the cap eliminated but refueling is also much considerably easier. (Stainless steel mounting screw shown in photo is not included.) |

Land Rover Genuine Parts 2004 Disco2 Center Differential Lock Kit (EW21) $700 The 2004 Disco2 is the only Disco2 that comes from the factory with a CDL shifter, and what an effective and smooth mechanism it is. We have heretofore advocated the fitment of a Disco1's CDL shifter as the most elegant and quasi-factory method to lock the Disco2's transfer box. However, we now opine that the 2004 Disco2's CDL shifter is a far superior method and is really the only way to fly. The cable-actuated 2004 CDL shifter is noticeably smoother in operation than the hard linkages employed on the Disco1 CDL shifter and the lack of hard linkages noticeably attenuates drivetrain noise and vibration inside the vehicle. Our CDL Kit is composed of all Land Rover Genuine Parts and contains everything one needs to lock one's CDL-ready transfer box, including the shifter knob, 2004 CDL shifter body, cables, fasteners, and other appurtenances. (Not included is the 2004 CDL placard, as this part is not available separately through Land Rover parts channels.) If your transfer box is not CDL-ready, i.e., not readily lockable, our CDL Kit is not suitable for you. Rather, our CDL Kit is for the Disco2 that already has a readily lockable transfer box but lacks the means to lock it. |

Land Rover Genuine Parts LR3 Rubber Navigation Mat (FAH500032PVJ) $22 The Land Rover LR3 comes from the factory with a tray below the navigation screen, but anything placed on the tray easily slides off. Prevent this problem by fitting the Land Rover Genuine Parts LR3 Rubber Navigation Mat. The Rubber Navigation Mat is sticky by nature and adheres to the smooth tray. The Rubber Navigation Mat features truncated rubber pyramids that grab small personal effects placed on it and prevents them sliding off during normal driving. Make your LR3 much more usable during daily driving with the Rubber Navigation Mat. |

Land Rover Genuine Parts LR3 Reduced Cupholder Insert (FWW500060PVJ) $15 The LR3 comes from the factory with cupholders, but the cupholders are too large. These large cupholders are designed to hold very large drinks, which is fine. However, the cupholders do not secure regular sized drinks like cans of soda. The cans flop around inside the cupholders and spill easily. Solve this problem easily by fitting the Land Rover Genuine Parts LR3 Reduced Cupholder Insert in place of the factory insert. The Reduced Cupholder Insert reduces the inner diameter of the cupholder to usable size. Sold individually. |
Make working behind your vehicle easier and backing up your vehicle safer by fitting a Worklamp to your vehicle's Safety Devices Roof Rack. This is the same Land Rover Genuine Part used by Land Rover's Special Vehicles division on its vehicles.
The Tomb Raider 110 is fitted with a Genuine Worklamp,
as well as the G4 Challenge vehicles, and as well as many others.
A steel mesh grill protects the lens from light impacts. Unlike most chicken wire stuff, this mesh grill actually looks good. A handle atop the Worklamp's body permits the user to turn or angle the Worklamp to the desired direction.
A ball-and-socket joint at the bottom of the Worklamp permits easy adjustment. The four tension screws on the joint can be tightened or loosened to suit different preferences.
The Worklamp features a rotary switch on the back of the body. The rotary switch can be used to ignite the Worklamp, or the switch can be bypassed all together, with the Worklamp being ignited from inside the vehicle by a separate switch. Whichever you prefer. For mounting your Worklamp, we recommend the fitment of a Safety Devices Roof Rack. The Safety Devices racks really are the nicest racks around.
Securing your vehicle during breakdowns is very important. The Steel Wheel Chock is small and light enough that you can always have proper wheel chocks handy with your vehicle's other tools. Keep at least two wheel chocks in your vehicle at all times.
The Steel Wheel Chock is standard fitment on the LR3. LR3 owners have enjoyed having the Steel Wheel Chocks. It's about time all Land Rover owners enjoyed the benefits of this compact and useful device.
Unlike the steel wheel chocks that were standard on pre-Disco2 Land Rovers, the new Steel Wheel Chock is very compact and even two Steel Wheel Chocks take up very little space inside the storage areas of your vehicle. This is how the Wheel Chock is normally stored, so it takes up minimal space.
Here is the Steel Wheel Chock in the open and locked position.
Here is the Steel Wheel Chock set up for use. Simply slide it against your tire and kick it in place. It will prevent your vehicle from rolling and greatly enhance safety while your vehicle is lifted. We recommend two Wheel Chocks be used, one on each side of the wheel being chocked.
To fold the Steel Wheel Chock for storage, simply hinge closed the locking flap and hinge the entire unit closed. The Steel Wheel Chocks are so small and lightweight that it is very easy to store two of them inside your vehicle, so there's no excuse for not having two inside your vehicle at all times.
Another way to increase safety while you are changing your tires is to display the Road Hazard Triangle behind your vehicle when you are parked on the side of the road. The triangle is made from polymer, and features highly reflective panels along the triangle's perimeter and a bright orange triangle within the body. Land Rover Genuine Parts recommends placing the Road Hazard Triangle 100 meters behind your parked vehicle so as to give traffic better notice that you are parked on the side of the road.
The Road Hazard Triangle features highly reflective panels that shine light back onto traffic.
A bright orange inner triangle gives warning in daytime conditions.
Heavy wire legs span a large distance and support the Road Hazard Triangle.
All four legs detent in the open and closed positions and stay open or closed.
The Road Hazard Triangle is heavy and will not tip over from vehicles zooming past at high speed.
The Road Hazard Triangle is ingeniously designed to fold up into a very small space for easy storage.
The Road Hazard Triangle comes complete with a green polymer storage case. This storage case can be stored almost anywhere inside your vehicle, so there's no reason not to have one or even two inside your vehicle at all times.
Another way to increase safety in and around your vehicle is by always having a fire extinguisher handy. A fire extinguisher is a must-have item for any offroad vehicle, and for any motor vehicle for that matter. This Land Rover Genuine Parts 1 KG Fire Extinguisher can be hard-mounted inside your vehicle and always at the ready.
The Land Rover Genuine Parts 1 KG Fire Extinguisher is designed for extinguishing A, B, C, and electrical fires. Safe to use on live electrical equipment, the 1 KG Fire Extinguisher is designed for extinguishing all fires except metal fires and gaseous fires having an explosion risk.
The 1 KG Fire Extinguisher is very easy to use. Instructions are patently marked on the side of the extinguisher.
Operating the 1 KG Fire Extinguisher is a simple, two-step process.
To use, first depress the yellow safety knob marked "1". Depressing the yellow knob will break the safety wire connection and permit the black operating lever to be actuated.
The 1 KG Fire Extinguisher emits its extinguishant from the nozzle at the front of the unit. Direct this nozzle at the fire and operate the black lever marked "2" to emit the extinguishant.
The 1 KG Fire Extinguisher features a gauge that displays the status of the unit and indication of when the unit has to be recharged.
The Fire Extinguisher is easily mounted in your Land Rover and gives your vehicle a very factory appearance. Ho mounted his Fire Extinguisher to his seat box.
Sometimes safety equipment alone is not sufficient. Vehicles often mire in loose conditions and must be dug out before a safe recovery can be attempted. This Expedition Shovel features many design features that make it ideal for digging under stuck vehicles.
The handle is made from solid ash for strength. The end of the handle is in the shape of a T to permit the user to push on the end of handle. Shovels with straight ends require the user to push the spade into the ground with his feet. While this works most of the time, it doesn't work well under stuck vehicles.
The spade is solidly riveted to the handle for strength.
The steel blade encapsulates the tip of the shovel completely for maximum strength.
The spade is wide and relatively shallow to permit reaching under stuck vehicles. The rear of the spade is folded to permit pushing the spade into the ground with the foot when field conditions permit.
The Expedition Shovel is mounted to the wings of many Defenders. When properly mounted, the Expedition Shovel's blade and handle clear the hood, but do not protrude beyond the sides of the vehicle to get snagged.
Your Land Rover came from the factory with lashing rings. Though often used as recovery points, the lashing rings are not safe or proper recovery points and should not be used as such. Replace your factory lashing rings with heavy-duty JATE Rings. JATE Rings were designed for airlifting military Land Rovers, but also make excellent recovery points for your Land Rover.
Whether used as recovery points or lashing points or both, the JATE Ring is truly a versatile and practical addition to almost any Land Rover. The standard JATE Ring pictured above spans 85mm and will fit to frames spanning approximately 85mm.
The front of the Defender's frame measures 85mm wide and is predrilled for the fitment of JATE Rings.
The lashing points on the Disco1 will accept the standard JATE Ring.
The Disco2's lashing point will also accommodate the standard JATE Ring, but only so long as there is no receiver hitch fitted. Disco2's with receiver hitches fitted can be fitted with the Wide JATE Ring, further described below.
The Wide JATE Ring identical to the standard JATE Ring, except that each side is relieved 6mm to give clearance for various receiver hitch brackets and steering guards. The Wide JATE Ring spans 97mm.
Here is a close-up view of one side the standard JATE Ring.
The Wide JATE Ring features 6mm relief cuts on each side.
On top is a standard JATE Ring; on the bottom is the Wide JATE Ring.
The standard JATE Ring and Wide JATE Ring feature the same external width. The only difference is the interior width. The standard JATE Ring spans 85mm and the Wide JATE Ring spans 97mm.
If you have fitted an accessory to your vehicle's frame such as a receiver hitch or steering guard and the standard JATE Ring is too narrow, measure the distance required and see if it is 97mm or under. The Wide JATE Ring just may work for you.
The Tie-Down Loop is standard fitment on the Disco2, but is suitable for use on all Rover vehicles. The Tie-Down Loop is shaped so that it can be partially hidden under carpet, with only the D-ring showing above the carpet for a clean appearance.
The D-ring is hinged and is free to swing a full 180 degrees. Mounting bolts are not included, since the Tie-Down Loops may be mounted in so many different ways and different methods of mounting will require different fastener lengths and styles.
Almost all serious fourwheelers upgrade to tires both larger in size and more aggressive in tread pattern. Trail tires like the Michelin XZL provide greater offroad traction and strength than do street tires. These tires, however, also provide extra road noise and vibration on the highway. This noise and vibration becomes tiring and annoying on long trips.
Most serious fourwheelers also change to lower gearing to compensate for both the larger-diameter trail tires they have fitted and the already-overgeared nature of factory Land Rovers. These 4.11 Ring & Pinion Gear Set from Great Basin Rovers provide a very usable gear reduction that brings most modified Rovers back into the usable range. The front ring & pinion set is also the reverse-rotation type for additional strength. These lower gears spin faster and generate more gear noise than the factory 3.54 gears. While larger and more aggressive tires and lower gears have trade-offs, we put these items on our vehicles because they provide utility and performance that outweigh their inevitable trade-offs.
Up to now, most fourwheelers have lived with these trade-offs. However, there are devices available that minimize these trade-offs without butchering the vehicle. The Rubberized Spring Isolator was designed the minimize the transmission of road, suspension, and drivetrain vibrations to the vehicle's cabin. If you have a Discovery, you are probably familiar with these isolators, as they are fitted above your rear springs.
This isolator, however, has many more uses, especially on offroad vehicles. The isolator can also be used as a spring shim to level out a listing vehicle, or even to raise a vehicle slightly.
The isolators feature a steel lip that mates with the end of the coil spring. Unlike the Old Man Emu 10mm Trim Packer (which can be mounted only to the tops of the rear springs), this isolator can be fitted front or rear, top or bottom. You can even mount eight different isolators to all four of your springs for additional lift and/or additional vibration attenuation.
Here is the orientation of the Spring Seat without a coil spring fitted.
A Rubberized Spring Isolator fits snugly onto the Spring Seat. The steel lip inside the Rubberized Spring Isolator securely mates with a coil spring.
The Rubberized Spring Isolator may be fitted top or bottom, or both top and bottom.
If you have fitted an ARB Winch Bar and a Superwinch to your vehicle, you have probably noticed that the front of your vehicle sits lower than the rear. Front springs, even Old Man Emu Heavy-Duty Front Springs, usually wear out faster than the rear springs. This is so for several reasons. First, the front bumper and winch are always on the vehicle, while the rear of the vehicle is heavily loaded only during trips and is usually empty during daily use. Second, the front springs are lighter in rate than the rear springs. The Rubberized Spring Isolators can resolve this problem, as they can be fitted to the top and/or bottom of the front springs. These are very useful items, as they can lift a sagging vehicle and/or level out a listing vehicle, as well as provide vibration and noise attenuation to make your vehicle a more comfortable daily driver. The Rubberized Spring Isolators do not detract from the vehicle's performance in any manner. Finally, there is no butchery of the vehicle required to mount these elegant enhancements to your vehicle.
This Disco2 has been fitted with Old Man Emu 751 Front Springs and has the Rubberized Spring Isolators fitted top and bottom. This Disco2 is fitted with the SLS rear suspension, a very heavy front bumper, and winch. Over time, the front springs sagged under the load but the SLS did not sag at all. Thus this vehicle was sitting slightly nose-low. To cure the front sag, the owner fitted Rubberized Spring Isolators top and bottom and lifted the front almost 1".
The Rubberized Spring Isolators may look crude, but the crudeness is only superficial. The ostensible crudeness is merely mold lubricant and flashing from the manufacturing process. On the left is a new isolator. On the right is a used isolator, with the lubricant and flashing worn off from use.
After fitment to your vehicle, the mold lubricant and flashing will fall off and expose the true appearance of the Rubberized Spring Isolators.
If you want additional vibration and noise attenuation for your vehicle, the Rubberized Shock Tower Securing Ring is available.
The entire unit is covered in rubber and attenuates the transmission of road, suspension, and drivetrain vibration and noise to the vehicle's cabin.
The Rubberized Shock Tower Securing Ring's rubber skirt inserts into the front spring.
We include four Zinc-plated Nyloc flange nuts with each Rubberized Shock Tower Securing ring we sell.
The Rubberized Shock Tower Securing Ring is standard fitment on all newer coilsprung Land Rovers like the Discovery Series II.
Older coilsprung Rovers like the Range Rover Classics, Discovery Series I, and Defenders employ a corrugated steel shock tower retaining ring.
This steel unit does not employ any padding, and thus road, suspension, and drivetrain vibration and noise have a clear path from the axle to the spring to the spring perch to the frame and to the vehicle's interior.
Replacing this steel unit with the Rubberized Shock Tower Securing Ring to these older vehicles will attenuate vibration and noise from the front axle and tires.
The rubber and steel shock tower securing rings employ the same bolt pattern and will fit the same vehicles. There is no drilling or other vehicle butchery required to mount these. In other words, if you have a Defender, Discovery Series I, or coilsprung Range Rover Classic, the Rubberized Shock Tower Securing Ring will fit your vehicle. Again, the bolt pattern is identical and this unit will bit both the older stud-type and the newer eyelet-type shock towers equally well.
On the left is a Defender with the standard steel securing ring. On the right is a Range Rover Classic with the Rubberized Shock Tower Securing Ring mounted. The Rubberized Shock Tower Securing Ring adds a little height as well as noise and vibration dampening.
A "solid" vehicle, one that you can depend on in the middle of nowhere, is necessarily a reliable vehicle. The factory air suspension is a liability on any offroad vehicle that travels far from home, and it's only a matter of time before the air suspension gives. When you're far from home with no garage in site, the last thing you want to deal with is limping home on the bumpstops. We opine that all serious fourwheelers should replace their air suspension with Old Man Emu Springs for additional clearance and enhanced reliability. We have witnessed several air suspension failures in the field and have heard of dozens more. Air suspensions necessarily rely on the integrity of airsprings, air lines, connections, compressors, wiring, height sensors, and so on. All of these are a liability and should be removed.
This Spring Seat fits the front and rear springs on Range Rover Classics, Discovery Series I's, and Defender 90's, as well as the front of the Defender 110. Discovery Series II's require a different Spring Seat. The Spring Seats are intended as replacement parts on vehicles that came from the factory with air suspension. Remove one more weak link from your vehicle by converting to coil springs.
The Disco2 Spring Seat is taller.
The Defender/Disco1/Range Rover Classic Spring Seat is on the left. The Disco2 Spring Seat is on the right. The two are not interchangeable.
To enhance reliability, change your differential fluids regularly. This practice will also maximize component life and smooth operation. Another very nice factory upgrade to older Land Rovers the fitment of the Magnetic Drain Plug to the front and rear differentials. The Magnetic Drain Plugs come standard on the Disco2, but fit both the drain plug and fill plug holes on all Land Rover solid axles such as the Defenders, Disco1, and Range Rover Classic.
A powerful magnet on the tip of the drain plug collects metal particles inside the axle and prevents these particles from causing additional wear to the differential, gears, and bearings contained within the axle. Furthermore, the presence or absence of metallic particles on the drain plug at service time gives visible indication of possible problems with your drivetrain components.
The particulates on this Magnetic Drain Plug are not normal, and give indication that there is something wrong. The bits are quite large and show something within the third member has broken. In this case, a pinion shim has disintegrated and requires repair.
The Magnetic Drain Plus is identical in dimensions to the non-magnetic drain plug, except that the Magnetic Drain Plug is taller because of the magnet. Both types of drain plugs are absolutely interchangeable.
If you have wheeled on some of the more difficult trails, then your drain plugs are probably needing replacement anyway. The drain plugs are situated very low on the vehicle and are exposed to the inevitable knocks and scrapes from doing difficult trails.
This is Ho's rear drain plug after the Dusy-Ershim.
Compare Ho's old drain plug to a new Magnetic Drain Plug. The difference is remarkable.
John's factory drain plugs were no better than Ho's. Both of us replaced our factory drain plugs with the Magnetic Drain Plugs at our next gear oil change.
Replacing your drain plugs is very simple. The Magnetic Drain Plug is a standard 1/2" drive.
All ratchets, breaker bars, and ratchet adapters with 1/2" anvils will fit the Magnetic Drain Plug.
If you do not have a 1/2" driver, then a 1/2" drive socket cap will also work.
Fitment of the 1/2" drive socket cap will enable you to use a wrench to thread or unthread your Magnetic Drain Plug.
Many fourwheelers fit their vehicles with steel wheels for their rugged looks and theoretical strength advantage over alloy wheels. We both use and recommend only Genuine Parts steel wheels on our vehicles. We have found many other aftermarket wheels to be out of round or suffer concentricity problems. Use only Genuine Parts steel wheels for best results.
Genuine Parts wheels deserve Genuine Parts lug nuts. Do not skimp on inferior-quality lug nuts. The RRD500010 Lug Nut fits the wheel studs on the Defender, Discovery Series I, and Range Rover Classic.
The PRC3430 and AMR6104 three-position switches control your Defender's running lights and low beams, and came standard on your NAS Defender.
The PRC3430 came standard on the 1993-1995 NAS Defenders.
The AMR6104 came standard on the 1997 NAS D90's.
The two switches are identical except for their connectors. The AMR6104's connector is on the left, while the PRC3430's connector is on the right.
Both the AMR6104 and PRC3430 switches have a a tendency to burn out because of the lack of a relay in the Defender headlights' wiring scheme. With no relay in the headlight wiring scheme, all of the current required to illuminate the headlights must flow through the switch.
The heat generated by the relatively high current flow is sufficient to melt the switch. The copper contacts of the switch become displaced and the switch no longer functions. John has gone through two headlight switches on his Defender using standard 55w bulbs, and now carries a spare switch inside his Defender's center console.
A very useful light switch that maintains the factory look of a Defender is the Rear Fog Switch. This two-position switch was standard fitment on many foreign Defenders for controlling the rear fog lights fitted to these vehicles. This switch fits perfectly into the factory cutout in your North American Specification Defender's steering column and mounts to factory cutout in the steering column's steel frame.
The Rear Fog Switch comes with the wiring long enough to splice in a connector.
The icon on the Defender Rear Fog Switch matches the rear fog light icon on the North American Specification Defender's warning light display.
The rear fog icon is not wired on North American Specification Defenders.
Though the rear fog warning light is not wired from the factory, it is a very simple matter to make the rear fog warning light illuminate like this high-beam indicator when the rear worklamp or back-up light is illuminated.
The Defender Rear Fog is a near mirror image of Defender Headlamp Switch and mounts to the steering column in an identical fashion. Having the left switch control the headlights and the right switch control the rear worklamp or back-up light is very intuitive, and the correct icon on the Defender Rear Fog switch just makes this switch that much more suitable for controlling the rear-facing lights on your Defender.
The RTC8921AA Worklamp is an ideal mate for the Rear Fog Switch.
If you own a Defender and want very factory-looking light or ARB Air Locker switches for your interior, another very nice option is the headlight switch from the Range Rover Classic. Your Defender's dash is already pre-cut to accept these very useful switches.
These switches are the three-position type and can be wired to run different lights or front and rear ARB Air Lockers off a single switch. This is very handy on the Defender, which does not have a lot of factory switch options the way the Discovery does.
Here is a photo of the lower left dash area on John's Defender. You will see that John relocated his dimmer switch above the factory cutout and relocated the dimmer switch to the steel fascia below the vehicle's dial indicators. The hole for the relocated dimmer switch is there from the factory and covered by a piece of plastic. It is a very simple matter to relocate the dimmer switch to the second position, and no extension of the factory wiring is required. Relocating the dimmer switch provides three different cutouts for the Range Rover Headlight Switches and the only thing that has to be cut is the vinyl. In this photo, all three switches are mounted into the factory cutouts and are "off".
The Range Rover Headlight Switches are easier to manipulate than the low-profile Defender 110 Dome Light Switch.
John wired his left switch so that clicking it downward one position will illuminate the Hella 550 Fog Lamps mounted to his brushguard. When John eventually gets roof lights for his Safety Devices Expedition Roof Rack, he will wire them to this same switch. When he does, clicking the left switch to the very bottom as shown in the photo above will illuminate both the Hella 550 Fog Lamps and John's roof lights.
Having three, three-position switches gives a lot of flexibility for switching options for your auxiliary lights. The Defender does not have a lot of slots for factory switches, so these switches are very suitable for a Defender that is fitted with lots of auxiliary lights or ARB Air Lockers.
John wired his middle switch to run his spotting lamps. The first downward click of the middle switch illuminates the Hella FF Ultra Beam Worklamp on the front and the Hella Double Worklamp mounted above the rear axle. Clicking the same switch to the third position keeps the front and rear spotting lamps illuminated, but also illuminates the Hella FF Ultra Beam Worklamps on each side of the vehicle's frame. John has yet to wire the third switch and will probably use that for a backup lamp. These switches are as useful as they are aesthetically pleasing.
Another fine option for auxiliary switching inside your Defender is the Defender 110 Dome Light Switch, which has certain advantages over the Range Rover Classic Headlight Switch.
Like the Range Rover Classic Headlight Switch, the Defender 110 Dome Light Switch is the three-position type. However, the Defender 110 Dome Light Switch features a very low profile with a rocker design that does not protrude from the dash.
On the left is the Range Rover Classic Headlight Switch. On the right is the Defender 110 Dome Light Switch. Both switches are the three-position type and fit the same factory holes in the Defender's dash.
However, the Defender 110 Dome Light switch sits almost flush and matches the profile of the factory dimmer switch. If you are not going to relocate your dimmer switch and want your auxiliary switches to match, the Defender 110 Dome Light Switch may be preferable to maintain a factory-like appearance.
The Defender 110 Dome Light Switch is another fine option for wiring your accessories without cluttering up your dash or ruining your vehicle's appearance.
The right side of the Defender's steering column will hold more than the Rear Fog Switch. The steering column will also hold this Hand Throttle, which will enable you to control your your vehicle's revs during winching or rockcrawling. This item is fitted to many older Defenders and was not intended by the factory to be used as hand throttle. Nevertheless, it is very suitable to being used as such.
Here is a view of the entire Hand Throttle. The Hand Throttle is basically a long cable that pulls on the engine's throttle when the knob is pulled back. In other words, the Hand Throttle works just like the accelerator pedal, but is operated by hand.
The tip of the cable features a loop that mounts to the engine's throttle when the Hand Throttle's control knob is pulled.
Here is a view of the Hand Throttle's control knob.
Here is a side view. In the left photo, the control knob is depressed and the Hand Throttle's cable would not be pulling on the engine's throttle. In the right photo, the control knob is pulled backward and the cable would be pulling on the engine's throttle and causing the engine's rev's to rise.
The control knob can be locked in place. To use the Hand Throttle, depress the accelerator until you reach the desired rev's. Then pull the Hand Throttle's control knob and then turn the control knob clockwise. Turning the control knob clockwise locks the control knob in place and it will not slide in and out of its housing. To release the control knob, simply turn it counterclockwise and spring pressure on the throttle will pull the control knob back in.
John's Defender is fitted with both the Rear Fog Switch and the Hand Throttle. The Hand Throttle mounts to the factory brackets inside the steering column, just like the Rear Fog Switch. Both provide very useful functions and control auxiliary equipment, yet maintain the vehicle's factory appearance.
If you own a Defender, then you have probably lost your fuel filler cap. This Tethered Fuel Filler Cap is standard fitment on the Discovery and is an elegant solution to the problem of losing fuel filler caps. While not factory fitment on a Defender, the Tethered Fuel Filler Cap mounted on the Defender has a quasi-factory appearance and the result is not incongruous with the Defender's looks.
The tip of the tether has a "bearing" on it that will permit the user to mount the tether solidly to the vehicle and the tether will still be able to swing.
Mounting the tether is very simple. Simply drill a hole into your vehicle's bodywork and fit the tether with a small screw and nut. We prefer to use a stainless steel Philips screw and stainless steel Nyloc nut. We open that this type of installation is less invasive than mounting a Riv-Nut into the vehicle's bodywork.
The tether also permits the cap to hang freely while refueling your vehicle and there is no need to place the cap on the wheel carrier or elsewhere. Not only is losing the cap eliminated but refueling is also much considerably easier. If you own a Defender, then the Tethered Fuel Filler Cap will greatly enhance your day-to-day enjoyment of your vehicle.
The 2004 Disco2 is the only Disco2 that comes from the factory with a CDL shifter, and what an effective and smooth mechanism it is. If your transfer box is not CDL-ready, i.e., not readily lockable, our CDL Kit it is not suitable for you. Rather, our CDL Kit is for the Disco2 that already has a readily lockable transfer box but lacks the means to lock it.
Our CDL Kit is composed of all Land Rover Genuine Parts and contains everything one needs to lock one's CDL-ready transfer box, including the shifter knob, 2004 CDL shifter body, cables, fasteners, and other appurtenances.
Not included in our CDL Kit is the 2004 CDL placard, as this part is not available separately through Land Rover parts channels. However, everything else one needs is included in the CDL Kit and ready for installation.
Increase your view of the road and vehicles around your Disco1 or Disco2 with the Convex Left-Hand Mirror. This mirror is standard fitment to right-hand drive Discoveries and has a convex shape to give a wide-angle view of the sides and road behind your vehicle. The Convex Left-Hand Mirror is similar in concept to the Expeditionware Convex Mirror for the Defender, but is a Land Rover Genuine Part for right-hand drive Disco1's and Disco2's (both vehicles use the identical mirror).
The Convex Mirror gets its name from its convex shape. The reflector bulges outward and gives a wider reflection than a flat-planed mirror would. The advantage of the convex shape is that the driver obtains a wider view of the road to the side of him and behind him. On the left is a standard NAS mirror and on the right is the Convex Mirror.
The Convex Mirror is a simple, drop-in replacement for the factory mirror fitted by Land Rover.
Installation is very simple and no vehicle butchery is required to install the mirror. The Convex Mirror is held to the mirror body in exactly the same fashion as the NAS mirror.
All heating functions remain active.
The Land Rover Genuine Parts G4 Challenge Decal Set includes two of the decals shown.
Each G4 Challenge decal measures 6" x 3" in size.
The Land Rover Special Vehicles Decal measures 7.5" wide x 4" tall,
and is normally fitted to authentic Land Rover Special Vehicles like this Range Rover MkIII G4 Challenge event vehicle.
We have assembled the Land Rover Genuine Parts & SilBlade Discovery Series II Front Wiper Kit for Disco2 owners who wish to have standard, non-proprietary wiper blades to facilitate finding replacements in the future or far away from home. The wiper arms are Land Rover Genuine Parts for the Disco1 and fit perfectly on the Disco2. The EW19 includes both front wiper arms and two SilBlade 18" FlexBlade Silicone Wiper Blades.
The wiper arms are from the Disco1 and fit perfectly on the Disco2.
We use only genuine SilBlade FlexBlade Silicone Wipers with our Disco2 Wiper Kit.
The proper adapters are included to mate the SilBlades to the Disco1 wiper arms. With the Disco2 Wiper Kit, Disco2 owners can now enjoy the superior wiping abilities of the SilBlades on their vehicles.
The Land Rover Genuine Parts Rear Ladder fits both the Discovery Series I and Discovery Series II. All hardware and ancillaries required for a proper installation are included with the ladder.
If you have a roof rack on your Discovery such as this Safety Devices Roof Rack, you need a ladder to access the roof rack and the Pelican Protector Cases, Jerrycans, or other items stored on your rack. Without a rear ladder, one must climb onto the spare wheel to access the roof rack. Installing A Genuine Land Rover Rear Ladder On Your Discovery is very simple and there is no reason not to fit a rear ladder if you have a roof rack.
All of the fasteners and ancillaries necessary for a proper installation of the Rear Ladder are included.
The G4 Challenge Rear Upper Lamp Guards are fitted to the Land Rover G4 Challenge Discoveries, and protect the upper tail lamps on all model years of the Disco2. These are especially attractive on the 2003 and 2004 model years of the Disco2, as these vehicles come standard with flat and featureless tail lamps.
These plastic Lamp Guards are more for looks than anything else, but we believe they make the Disco2 look nicer, and that alone is worthwhile. If they someday prevent the tail lamps from cracking in some odd situation, that is more of a collateral benefit than anything else.
Not every modification to one's vehicle must concern offroad capability. Our own Land Rovers are our daily drivers and we try to make them as comfortable as possible. Make everything from international expeditions to your daily commute more enjoyable with this Cupholder Set.
The Disco1 and early models of the Disco2 come from the factory with a retractable cup holder. While this cupholder is better than nothing, drinks contained in the cup holder obscure access to the vehicle's temperature controls. This cup holder also cannot hold oversize drinks.
Unlike the flimsy cupholder that emanates from the dash, these cupholders bolt solidly to your vehicle's center console, making driving more enjoyable by lessening spills. Driving is also made safer because hot refreshments like tea or coffee are less likely to spill while driving. These cupholders fit all model years of the Discovery and the 1995 model year of the Range Rover Classic, and are available in Bahama Beige or Dark Smokestone colors to match the factory colors of your interior.
The mouths of the cupholders are sized to hold securely smaller liquid containers such as cans of soda or small bottles.
To make the cupholders hold larger containers such as Big Gulps or insulated mugs, simply pull out the center of the cupholders to reveal their larger mouths.
The large mouths of the cupholders will hold very large drinks such as this Horchata Grande from King Taco.
The top of the cupholder is hooked every 90 degrees so that its opening can be oriented to suit different mounting locations.
Once mounted, the driver-side cupholder can have its opening point toward the driver and the passenger-side cupholder can have its opening point toward the passenger.
The Cupholder Set is also available in Dark Smokestone color to match Discoveries with gray interiors.
Fourwheeling can be a lot more fun in the dark. The lack of visibility can transform an ordinary trail into a very interesting one. If you are going to wheel in the dark, then you should have auxiliary lights mounted to your vehicle for greater visibility. The added visibility will help prevent accidents and other mishaps.
Ho's Disco1 was fitted with the Hella 24,000 System (Six Hella Rallye 4000's). Ho's winch bumper is fitted with two Hella Rallye 4000 Cornering Beams. Ho's Safety Devices Highlander Roof Rack is fitted with four more Rallye 4000 Euro Beams. All of Ho's Rallye 4000's are fitted with Hella Rallye 4000 Clear Covers.
This setup produces a tremendous amount of light and is as beautiful as it is effective. All of those lights, however, require switches to turn them on and off. While there are scores of different auxiliary light switches available on the market, we use and recommend only the Genuine Parts switches because they maintain a very factory look inside the vehicle. Many people are into having all sorts of toggle switches or buttons drilled into their dashes and consoles, but we are not one of them. Lighting installations with these switches fitted have always looked like hack jobs to our way of looking at things. We prefer to integrate the auxiliary light switches with the vehicle's interior design.
A very useful switch for the Disco1 is the Disco1 Rear Fog Switch. This switch is the click-on, click-off type and remains depressed when it is clicked on. The icon on the Rear Fog Switch's fascia has the light pointed backward, which is intended to designate the rear fog lamps on the Disco1. However, the rear fog icon is very close in appearance to the front fog light icon and is very suitable for auxiliary light use. The Disco1 Rear Fog Switch is ideal for controlling a rear worklamp like the Hella Double Worklamp mounted to the back of a Safety Devices Roof Rack.
The Rear Fog Switch is lighted.
When depressed, the light beside the icon illuminates. The Rear Fog Switch can be mounted to either side of the Disco1's binnacle, which comes from the factory fitted with useless volume controls.
The RTC8921AA Worklamp is an ideal mate for the Rear Fog Switch.
The Disco1 Front Fog Switch is another useful switch for auxiliary light use on the Disco1.
This switch was intended to be mounted to the carrier on the Disco1's dash.
Like the Disco1 Rear Fog Switch, the Disco1 Front Fog Switch is the click-on, click-off type and remains depressed when it is clicked on. And, like the Disco1 Rear Fog Switch, the Disco1 Front Fog Switch illuminates when depressed and the switch is wired properly.
Though intended to be oriented vertically, the Disco1 Front Fog Light Switch can also be oriented horizontally and mounted to the Disco1's binnacle.
If used in this fashion and mounted to the left side of the binnacle, the light pattern on the switch's icon points upward/forward to designate roof lights or forward-facing lights.
The Disco1 Front Fog Switch can also be mounted to the right side of the binnacle.
If mounted in this fashion, the pattern will point backward to designate a backward-facing light pattern. This is very suitable for indicating that a backward-facing worklamp is on. There are many switch options with the Disco1 Front Fog Switch.
Some Disco1's were fitted with a Two-Switch Carrier. Others were fitted with a Three-Switch Carrier. Many savvy Disco1 owners change out the Two-Switch Carrier and replace it with a Three-Switch Carrier.
Others, especially those who do not smoke, pull the Disco1's or Disco2's ashtray and fit the Three-Switch for more switch options. The Three-Switch Carrier is ideal for using Land Rover Genuine Parts switches to control the ARB Air Compressor and front and rear ARB Air Lockers. Though eminently suitable for use inside the Disco2, the Three-Switch Carrier is compatible only with the Disco1 Rear Fog and Disco1 Front Fog Switches only, and not the Disco2 switches. The Disco1 Rear Fog Switch, Disco1 Front Fog Switch, and the Three-Switch Carrier have a Ash Grey color to suit interiors of Disco1's and pre-2003 Disco2's.
The Three-Switch Carrier is a very elegant way to add additional switches to one's vehicle if the binnacle is already full with other auxiliary switches.
Both the Disco1 Rear Fog Light and Disco1 Front Fog Light Switches fit the Three-Switch Carrier. When mounted into the Three-Switch Carrier, the Disco1 Rear Fog Light's icon points the beam upward/forward to designate roof lights. The array of different switch combinations one can achieve is limited only by his imagination.
This Disco2 is a good example of a very solid lighting setup. The TJM T17 Steel Bumper Channel is fitted with two Hella 4000 Fog Beams. The Safety Devices Highlander Roof Rack is fitted with four more Hella 4000's. The two Hella 4000's in the center are Euro Beams. Flanking the Euro Beams are two more 4000 Cornering Beams. All of the Hella 4000's are fitted with Hella 4000 Clear Covers. This setup produces a tremendous amount of light and is as beautiful as it is effective. For controlling these lights, we use and recommend only the Land Rover Genuine Parts switches to maintain the elegant interior found on the Disco2.
A nice switch for light installs on the Disco2 is the Disco2 Auxiliary Light Switch. This switch is the momentary type, and illuminates when the switch is activated. The icon on the switch's fascia is correct for auxiliary light installations, with the "2" designating "secondary" or "auxiliary".
Another very useful switch for the Disco2 is the Cruise Control Switch. This switch is the two-position type, and clicks on and clicks off. The switch also remains depressed when pressed on, and gives visible indication that the auxiliary lights are on. The switch illuminates when depressed.
A third switch option for the Disco2 is the Rear Wiper Switch. This switch is the two-position type, and clicks on and clicks off. The switch also remains depressed when pressed on, and gives visible indication that the auxiliary lights are on.
If you desire, you can remove the fascia on these switches and fit different ones or even blanks to suit the application.
The binnacles on the various Discovery models have all sorts of useless buttons such as for radio volume or even blank switches. Replace those useless buttons with very useful switches for your auxiliary lights.
A third option for steel wheel lug nuts is the ANR4851 Lug Nut. This lug nut fits the wheel studs on the Discovery Series II and P38 Range Rovers, and its unique flange is designed to retain the Hub Cap, shown below.
If you have fitted steel wheels to your Discovery Series II or P38 Range Rover, then you know that the center of the hub is visible through the wheel. This hub is unsightly.
This Genuine Part Hub Cap fits over the hug and mimics the appearance of the drive flange on earlier Land Rovers.
The interior of the Hub Cap features a circular spring that clips to the hub and holds the Hub Cap in place.
The ANR4851 Lug Nut features a unique flange, onto which the Hub Cap's circular spring clips. The ANR4851 Lug Nut is required to retain the Hub Cap in place.
When fitted, the otherwise visible hub is and ANR4851 Lug Nuts are covered. The Hub Cap prevents the hub from exposure to the elements and also provides a more finished appearance to the wheel area.
Add greater offroad capability to your LR3 with the Genuine Parts Winch Assembly.
The winch and winch tray are recessed into the LR3's front bumper, making for a very integrated and factory appearance.
Approach angles are very good with the Genuine Parts Winch Assembly.
This kit includes a winch tray, WARN 9.5 XP winch, and all of the necessary power feeds.
A template for cutting the front bumper and trim pieces are included.
Every vehicle that is taken offroad should be fitted with a winch. The Genuine Parts Winch Assembly gives the LR3 winching ability while maintaining a factory appearance.
This Rear Ladder is fitted to the Land Rover G4 Challenge LR3s, and provides access to the Land Rover LR3's roof.
The Rear Ladder also breaks up the flat and featureless tail section of the LR3.
Also available for the LR3 are the Land Rover Genuine Parts LR3 G4 Challenge Front Lamp Guards.
These plastic lamp guards are largely decorative. They do, however, make the LR3 appear more interesting and distinctive.
The LR3 G4 Challenge Rear Lamp Guards provide a similar function in the rear.
These plastic Lamp Guards are fitted to the Land Rover G4 Challenge LR3s, and protect the upper tail lamps of all Land Rover LR3s.
The LR3 comes from the factory with a tray below the navigation screen, but anything placed on the tray easily slides off during normal driving.
One can solve this problem easily by fitting the Land Rover Genuine Parts LR3 Rubber Navigation Mat.
The LR3 comes from the factory with cupholders, but the cupholders are too large.
These large cupholders are designed to hold very large drinks, which is fine. However, the cupholders do not secure regular sized drinks like cans of soda. The cans flop around inside the cupholders and spill easily.
Solve this problem by fitting the Land Rover Genuine Parts LR3 Reduced Cupholder Insert.
The Reduced Cupholder Insert reduces the inner diameter of the cupholder to usable size. Shown above are a standard LR3 cupholder insert on the left and the Reduced Cupholder Insert on the right.
Shown above are the Reduced Cupholder Insert on the left and the standard cupholder insert on the right. The difference is visually slight, but the effective difference is dramatic. If you like, you may fit one Reduced Cupholder Insert and leave the other large, so that you have the ability to secure a 64 oz. soda if you are into those kinds of things.
12 oz. cans of soda are secured by the Reduced Cupholder Insert.
Standard-sized thermal mugs like the Expeditionware Stainless Travel Mug are properly secured as well inside the Reduced Cupholder Insert.
Make living with your LR3 much easier by fitting the Reduced Cupholder Insert.
