K-Seal is very easy to use. Just shake the contents of the bottle and pour the bottle's contents into your cooling system. There is no need to drain your vehicle's cooling system before or after adding K-Seal.
K-Seal mixes with all types of coolants and flows through your vehicle's cooling system. When there is a crack or hole in the cooling system, this leak generates a low-pressure area. K-Seal deposits ceramic microfibers and fine copper granules as it flows through the damaged areas. Within seconds the crack or hole is completely filled with the ceramic microfibers and copper and sealed. The seal is further enhanced by heat to form a repair that will last for the life of the vehicle. If you drain the coolant thereafter, the K-Seal in your cooling system will drain with the coolant. However, the repair will remain. New coolant will not affect the integrity of the K-Seal repair or repairs.
When K-Seal is in your cooling system, it will stay mixed with the coolant and repair cracks, holes, and other leaks in your vehicle's cooling system. Even if you do not presently have any leaks in your cooling system, you can add K-Seal as a preventative measure and K-Seal will repair leaks that should appear in the future. Just be sure to retreat with K-Seal with every coolant change if you want to repair future leaks.
We have used K-Seal on our own vehicles and can say unequivocally that it really works. We were surprised to see that K-Seal fixed our leaking cooling systems almost instantly. The portions of our cooling systems that leaked are now bone-dry. Furthermore, K-Seal seems to have repaired head gasket leaks that we didn't even know about, because both of our vehicles ran much more smoothly after the K-Seal.
This juncture in Ho's cooling system was leaking. You can see the corrosion in the material from always being wet. This leak was annoying, but minor enough that laziness prevailed and was left unrepaired. Adding K-Seal to Ho's cooling system immediately sealed the leak. The corrosion remains, but the housing is now bone-dry.
K-Seal is designed for use with all water-based cooling systems. One 8 oz. bottle of K-Seal will treat cooling systems with a capacity up to 21 quarts. For larger cooling systems, use two bottles of K-Seal.
Another weak link in Land Rover cooling systems is the plastic radiator plug. For some inexplicable reason, Land Rover switched from a brass radiator plug (which was standard on the older Range Rover Classics) to a plastic plug. The plastic radiator plug is not satisfactory. The plastic threads are weak and easy to cross-thread. The plastic material gets very hot sitting on the radiator and eventually cracks. The plastic plug is also hollow and it is common for the head to shear off and leave the threaded shank inside the radiator. The plastic plug is a known weak point and a liability.
Replace the factory plastic piece with the Expeditionware Brass Plug. The Brass Plug suffers from none of the plastic factory plug's weaknesses. The shiny brass forms a patina with exposure to the elements and gives an elegant appearance as well as much greater strength and reliability. This plug is direct, drop-in replacement for the weak plastic radiator plugs fitted to older Land Rovers, as well as the front and rear differential fill plugs on the Disco2 and P38 Range Rover. Enhance the reliability of your vehicle by replacing the weak plastic radiator plug or differential fill plugs with this solid-brass version.
With your cooling system sorted out, you can turn to other matters. Almost all North American Specification Land Rovers suffer from sticky valves. To combat this problem, Land Rover formulated Land Rover Genuine Parts Fuel System Conditioner. Simply pour the Fuel System Conditioner into your gas tank at every oil change and it will go a long way toward preventing sticky valves in your engine. Your Land Rover Dealership probably puts the Fuel System Conditioner in your vehicle as a matter of course every time it services your vehicle. We have reliable reports from techs at several different Land Rover dealerships that this Fuel System Conditioner has drastically reduced the warranty work for sticky valves on customers' vehicles.
