The Prometheus Saturn II stands in stark contrast to the Hammer series of lighters. The Hammers are lighter in weight, more compact, and use a jet turbo flame. The Saturn II is a relatively large lighter and uses a circular flame.

DSC00113_.jpg

The Saturn II's ergonomic shape is also very different from the squared profiles on the Hammers. The Saturn II's size and unique shape give it a very solid and alluring feel in the hand.

DSC00103_.jpg

The Saturn II and Saturn II feature a flip-top lid that remains closed when the lighter is not in use. As with a Zippo, the flip-top lid must be opened manually before the lighter is ignited. Pulling on the ignition button with the lid closed will not let the Saturn II"s circular flame ignite.

DSC00104_.jpg

Unlike the Hammers, which feature jet turbo flames, the Saturns feature a circular flame. The center flame is encircled by 22 independent jet flames. The 23 different flames merge to generate one powerful, broad, flame which many find ideal for lighting cigars. Everyone has his own preferences for lighting cigars. Some prefer the jet turbo flame because it is very precise. Others prefer the circular flame because of its width and power. Prometheus makes both jet turbo and circular-flame lights to suit the needs and preferences of different cigar smokers.

The Saturn II has a very pleasing shape and is a lighter that is very hard to put down. Cigar aficionados everywhere will enjoy the appeal of this very nice lighter.

DSC00179_.jpg

If you fancy the Saturn but want a cigar with an integral cutter, then the Saturn S is available.

DSC00136_.jpg

The Saturn S is identical in exterior dimensions to the Saturn II, but features a retractable, double scissor-type cigar cutter. Note also the windows in the Saturn S and Saturn II, which enable the user to keep an eye on butane level.

DSC00181_.jpg

Here is a close-up of the left side of the Saturn S with the scissor cutter retracted. The scissor cutter is very unobtrusive and does not destroy the curvaceous lines of the lighter.

DSC00112_.jpg

In fact, the Saturn II (top) and Saturn S (bottom) look almost identical when the Saturn S' scissor cutter is retracted.

DSC00197_.jpg DSC00196_.jpg

The right sides of the Saturn II and Saturn S are almost identical. On the left is a Saturn II. On the right is a Saturn S.

DSC00179_.jpg

The scissor cutter features a nail nick on one of the blades to facilitate opening of the cutter.

DSC00177_.jpg

The cutter hinges 180 degrees and detents fully open and fully closed. Why a scissor-type cutter? The punch-type cutter is very convenient and easy to use, but many cigar aficionados prefer to smoke the torpedo shape. The torpedo and other pointed cigars cannot really be cut with the punch-type cutter. For these types of cigars, the scissor-type cutter is preferable.

DSC00107_.jpg

Like all Prometheus lighters, the Saturn S has the Prometheus logo engraved into the lighter.

DSC00199_.jpg

The Tycoon is designed for smokers who prefer a compact lighter with a rounded feel. The Tycoon's triangular cross section is very different from the squared shape of the Hammers or the curvaceous shape of the Saturns.

DSC00126_.jpg

The Tycoon features a method of operation identical to that of the Saturn. The top lid is spring-loaded fully open or fully closed. When not in use, the top lid is closed. When the top lid is closed, the Tycoon cannot be ignited by pulling the ignition button downward.

DSC00127_.jpg

To ignite the Tycoon, flip open the top lid and then pull the ignition button downward. The Tycoon will ignite and emit a jet turbo flame.

DSC00117_.jpg

Just like the Hammers and Saturns, the Tycoon features a butane window to permit keeping track of your fuel level.

DSC00173_.jpg

If you like the Tycoon's shape but want to carry a cutter with you every time you carry your lighter, the Tycoon X has an integral punch cutter identical to one found on the Hammer X.

DSC00125_.jpg

The Tycoon X's tail cap is hinged and snaps shut when not in use. The snap is very secure and the cutter does not flip open inadvertently.

DSC00122_.jpg

To expose the cutter, simply flip the cap open.

DSC00124_.jpg

The punch-type cutter on the Tycoon X is very sharp and will cut cigars very easily.

DSC00133_.jpg

Like the Hammer and Hammer X, the Tycoon (bottom) and Tycoon X (top) are almost identical in appearance.

DSC00191_.jpg

The Tycoon X, on the left, is slightly longer to house the punch-type cutter.

DSC00192_.jpg

No matter which Prometheus lighter you choose, you really cannot go wrong. All are superb lighters that will serve you well and enhance your smoking experience. Just as man does not live by bread alone, man does not ignite his tobacco by flame alone. Prometheus lighters do more than merely light your smoke. They enhance your smoking experience and make it more pleasurable.

Your Prometheus lighter runs off butane and will have to be refilled periodically. Use only triple-refined butane. Lesser grades of butane contain more impurities and will clog your lighter. Prometheus brand butane is triple-refined.
