Larger multitools like the Victorinox SwissTool X are superb multitools and they perform their various tasks better than the Utili-Keys would, but they are large enough that most people do not carry them on a daily basis. If your large multitool is not with you when you need it, then how useful is it to you?
While they are not intended to replace a standard multitool, miniature multitools like the Utili-Keys definitely have their place because they are small enough that they are always with you. The Utili-Key is almost identical in size to a Defender ignition key.

The Utili-Key 6-In-1 features a groove opposite the cutting edges. The cutting edges snap into this groove and prevent the cutting edges from cutting anything.
When the Utili-Key 6-In-1 is closed, it cannot cut anything.

These first four tools are identical to the first four tools found on the Utili-Key 6-In-1. The Utili-Key XT 8-In-1 differs from the Utili-Key 6-In-1 in that it features a (5) Nail File,:

The wire stripper function is the blade closed against the opposite side of the Utili-Key XT 8-in-1 in a scissor-like fashion.
If you want a multitool that you will always have on you, then the Swiss+Tech Utili-Key and Utili-Key XT are available.
If you want a larger multitool to supplement your Utili-Key or Utili-Key XT, then the Victorinox SwissTool RS is available. The SwissTool X is a beautifully crafted multitool that has been designed with maximum ergonomics and utility in mind. Individual tools can be opened from the outside of the handle without having to open the pliers, while individual springs hold the other tools in place. Opening one tool does not splay open the adjacent tools, and each and every tool positively locks into place when opened fully. To close, simply slide the release button to fold the tool away.
