The Expeditionware Transport Loop is a small and low-profile stainless lashing ring or anchor for your gear. Do not let the small size of the Transport Loop lead you to believe that it is weak. It is more than strong enough to secure any cargo that you can lift. Each Loop is slightly larger than a quarter in diameter and features two holes--a small mounting hole and a large lashing hole.
The small mounting hole is round and slightly less than 9mm in diameter. The very common M8 and 5/16" fastener sizes easily fit through the smaller hole for mounting.
We do not include fasteners with the Transport Loops because of the nearly infinite different ways of mounting the Transport Loop to various surfaces and objects. Our recommended way to mount the Transport Loop is with a dome-headed stainless fastener for a clean appearance. Cheesehead fasteners would also be nice. These fasteners are commonly available at your local hardware store or fastener specialty store.
The large lashing hole is oval and measures roughly 15mm x 18mm. The large lashing hole is large enough to accept the vast majority of hooks used on ratchet straps.
The Transport Loop is bent 45 degrees so that the large lashing ring will stand proud when the Transport Loop is mounted against a flat surface.
The proud large lashing ring gives ratchet hooks clearance. Even the relatively large hooks of our Mac's Tie Downs Stainless Ratchet Straps will fit through the Transport Loop when the Transport Loop is solidly bolted to a flat surface.
Use your imagination and you will come up with many different ways in which the Transport Loop can serve you. The Transport Loop is very small and will fit almost anywhere.
If you require a more heavy-duty cargo anchor with articulating lashing loop, we also sell the Mac's Custom Tie Downs Anchor Plate Assembly Kit. Each Anchor Plate Assembly Kit includes a quickly detachable tie-down ring, machined and black anodized aluminum anchor plate, stainless steel backing plate with two PEM captive nuts, and two 1/4" stainless steel mounting screws. The tie-down ring attaches and detaches quickly and easily without tools, and when attached is free to rotate in any direction to accommodate different applications. When mounted, the mounting screws are countersunk and sit flush with the aluminum anchor plate. Each Anchor Plate Assembly has a 2000 lbs. capacity.
Another excellent cargo anchor for your vehicle's cargo area is the Land Rover Genuine Parts Disco2 Tie-Down Loop. The Disco2 Tie-Down Loop is standard fitment on the Land Rover Discovery Series II and numerous Land Rover Special Vehicles, but is suitable for use on nearly all vehicles. The Disco2 Tie-Down Loop can also be partially hidden under carpet, with only the D-ring showing above the carpet for a very clean appearance. The D-ring is hinged and is free to swing a full 180 degrees.
Our favorite way to secure heavy cargo to our various anchor points is with the Mac's Custom Tie Downs Stainless Steel Ratchet Straps. The Mac's Custom Tie Downs Stainless Steel Ratchet Straps are available in both 6' and 12' lengths. They feature an easily operated, stainless steel ratchet that will not bind or corrode from exposure to the elements. In the open position, the ratchet unlocks completely and releases tension on the nylon webbing. The 4,000 lb. nylon webbing is 1" wide and black in color. The 6' length is suitable for the majority of vehicular uses and the 12' length is suitable for doubling up and over larger cargo items as well as having sufficient length to meet unanticipated uses. The completed ratchet strap has a 2,800 lb. rating. The end hooks are coated with rubber to minimize scratching of your anchor points.
For mounting of your smaller miscellaneous items, the various Quick Fist Mounting Clamps are available.
The number of possible uses for Quick Fists is almost endless. Just use your imagination.
