Fourwheeling a vehicle obviously gets it very dirty. Mud and dirty water get everywhere. Branches scratch the paint. Maintaining a trail truck is not easy. It's quite tempting to let your trail truck turn into a beater. Don't do it.

This admonition is especially true if you have a nice trail truck like this G4 Challenge Range Rover Mk III. Not fourwheeling a vehicle like this would be a pity, but even sadder would be to let this beautiful truck turn into a beater. Don't do it. Despite what many believe, there is nothing cool about a beater.

While we are not exactly the best at keeping our personal vehicles clean and polished, we do try to keep them as clean and well maintained as time permits. After a good wash, we use Wenol Wax all over the trucks to polish them up and make them more presentable. We use Wenol Wax pretty much everywhere, from the paint to the plastic trim to the powdercoated pieces. Wenol Wax polishes these surfaces and removes the "desert pinstripes" better than anything else we have tried. And yet Wenol Wax is completely non-abrasive and safe to use on even the most delicate surfaces. Rub some Wenol Wax between your fingers and you will feel absolutely no abrasive contained within it.

The 2003 and 2004 model years of the Disco2 feature shatterproof, plastic headlights. These headlights suffer a lot of oxidation from exposure to the elements and scratches from brush on the trail. The headlights also pick up nicks from small stones kicked up by vehicles ahead.

Polishing these plastic headlights with Wenol Wax brings them back to like-new condition, without scratching the surface.

Similarly, Wenol Wax rejuvenates the Hella Clear Covers like no other plastic polish we have tried, even though it is completely non-abrasive and leaves no scratches.

Wenol Wax has many applications beyond the automotive area. The OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Wrist Chronograph features a shock-resistant hesalite crystal that is designed to withstand shocks and impacts that would shatter a glass or sapphire crystal. While the hesalite crystal is very strong, it is also prone to scratches that accumulate from everyday wear.

John maintains his crystal with Wenol Wax every few weeks. After a cleaning session, the scratches are gone and the crystal is perfectly smooth and clear. John previously used cleaning car wax but now gets much better results with Wenol.

John's Titleist 975F spoon is obviously well used, and shows signs of being used on muddy and dirty fairways.

And yet the paint on the crown is perfect. The paint is smoother and glossier than when this spoon left the Titleist factory. John polishes the paint with Wenol Wax whenever he services his golf clubs.

The front of the 975F's crown is absolutely free of sky marks and other blemishes from mis-hits.

John has hit his Titleist 905R driver many thousands of times.

And yet the paint on the driver is perfect after polishing with Wenol Wax. The paint is smoother and glossier than when the driver was brand new.

This Scotty Cameron Prototype Long Neck Newport shows scratches and dings from years of use, and yet the surface is glossy after application of Wenol Metal Polish. If you play golf, you know that the sole of the putter takes the most wear because golfers lean on their putters after holing out.

This Scotty was gamed for several years, and yet it still looks great because of repeated applications of Wenol Metal Polish. Maintaining a Scotty in this fashion is far preferable to getting it refinished by the Cameron Studio. The engraving and edges are maintained in their original condition rather than being smeared or rounded by buffing during the refinishing process.

The different Wenol formulations are for different uses.

For all cleaning and polishing tasks, with Wenol or without Wenol, we use and recommend only premium-quality microfiber cloths like the Expeditionware Microfiber Towels.

What is microfiber? "Microfiber" is a term used to describe ultra-fine extruded fibers and the technology used to develop and manufacture these types of fibers. Microfiber fibers weigh less than 0.1 denier. The fabrics and cloths made from these ultra-fine fibers provide incredible softness, scrubbing power, and water absorbency. The best way to understand microfiber engineered for cleaning is to look at a cross section of the fiber strand. In the photo above is a magnified image of a typical microfiber strand. Each strand of microfiber is sliced into polyester wedges that are attached to polyamide spokes. While microfiber is suitable for almost any purpose and makes an excellent general-purpose towel, changing the fiber design and weave allows a particular microfiber cloth to be optimized for scrubbing, polishing, or absorbing, or some combination of the foregoing.

The polyester wedges grab and scrub away microscopic particles of dirt while the polyamide spokes create a wicking action that pulls liquid into the fiber through capillary action. Premium-quality microfiber towels like our Expeditionware Microfiber Towels will absorb seven to eight times their weight in water, nearly double the capacity of the finest cottons. Other fabrics like cotton rely on the the gaps between each strand to grab particulates and moisture. Each individual strand can merely push or smear the dirt or water on a particular surface. In contrast, each microfiber strand lifts, scoops, and traps dirt and absorbs water. Furthermore, there are several hundred times more microfiber strands in each square inch of fabric (each square inch of microfiber fabric contains more than 100,000 microfiber strands), so there is a lot of scrubbing and absorbing power in every microfiber cloth. The difference is dramatic. Not only does each microfiber strand grab dirt and absorb water (something other fibers do not and cannot do), but there are many times more microfiber strands in each square inch of fabric. Oftentimes a microfiber cloth alone, without solvents or cleaning agents, can be used to clean an item that would otherwise require a cleaning agent with a cotton cloth. Vehicle interiors can be cleaned with a dry microfiber towel without any buffing action. Such is the scrubbing power of microfiber. Once soaked with water, microfiber towels also dry in one-third the time it takes cotton towels to dry. And Microfiber will not scratch the most delicate surfaces. Microfiber is superior to cotton, silk, and wool towels in every way. Once you try microfiber, you will never go back to standard cleaning or polishing cloths.

Wenol Unique Hard-Wax Car Polish is an excellent polish but not every car wash requires a thorough polish.
